According to Chan Vichet, a representative of the squatters, the latter are ready to burn tires in case of police intervention.
Squatters from Dey Kraham, located in Chamcar Mon district, Phnom Penh, will most likely be evicted after the 07 January celebration, Chan Vichet, a representative of the squatters, indicated when asked by “Cambodge Soir Hebdo.”
“I heard this information from people living in Damnak Trayang, the area where the authorities plan to relocate us,” Chan Vichet added.
According to him, people from Dey Kraham plan to burn tires to demonstrate and show their opposition to the eviction, in case of police intervention.
The owner of the 7NG company, the company which received the land concession, assured that he does not know the date planned for the eviction which is “under the responsibility of the authorities.” According the latter, the 7NG company has already prepared “houses, water distribution and food” to relocate the 91 squatter families.
