U.S. Ambassador Rodley Presents Credentials

The new U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Carol A. Rodley, presented her credentials to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni on Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 in a ceremony in the Throne Room of the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh.

In addressing Preah Bat Samdech Preah Baromneath Norodom Sihamoni Ambassador Rodley stated that the United States looks forward to continued friendship and cooperation with the Kingdom of Cambodia in the political, economic and cultural spheres. She particularly emphasised the last, which presents numerous opportunities to deepen our bilateral relationship.

Ambassador Rodley was nominated by President George W. Bush on June 12th, 2008 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 2nd, 2008. She was sworn in by Deputy Secretary of State John D. Negroponte on October 24th, 2008 as the United States Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cambodia.

From 1997 to 2000, she was Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
