Prime Minister Hun Sen was asked this week to confirm Thailand's ex- Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's presence in Cambodia in January and/or February 2009. The request came in the form of a letter from National Assembly members from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party.
According to article 96 of the Constitution, Hun Sen must respond within seven days after receiving the letter. A National Assembly official received the letter to be forwarded to Hun Sen on February 11, 2009.
