If the SRP and HRP MPs want to be included in the National Assembly (NatAss) committees, they only have to be “nicer” with the prime minister, Hun Sen indicated.
During a ceremony to hand out diplomas at the Royal University in Phnom Penh, Hun Sen indicated that the opposition was responsible for its NatAss powerlessness. “I am ready to accept two opposition MPs in each (NatAss) committee, but, I have no guarantee that the (CPP) MPs will vote in favor of this decision. You spend your day insulting me… Be nicer and this proposal may have a chance to pass,” Hun Sen launched.
During the first day of the regional seminar for “the role of parliament in the promotion of a peaceful society in Southeast Asia” held between 9-11 March in Phnom Penh, a sharp verbal exchange took place between CPP and SRP MPs. The incident occurred when CPP MP Chheang Vun came to talk at the podium in front of representatives from countries in the region, he then boasted his party for ending of the war and claiming “thanks to the CPP.”
Son Chhay, the SRP spokesman, was furious, he retorted by indicating that the negotiations for the rights of the opposition parties at the NatAss was also “a war that needs to be put to an end.”

I must congratulate to MP Son Chhay for his very quick reflection. He must fight for sharing the Parliament budget among all political parties. He must insist for his right to be protected. He must also need to fight for recognition that opposition leader is a No 3 Statemen after the King, The Prime Minister. THe Chairman of National Assebly is just a faciliator for the House. He must insist that in a multi-parties Parliament, all ministers and prime Minister should be available at all time to answer all questions put to them by members. He must demande for cutting power of Prime Minister to interfer with all public servants of all level. Areak Prey

how about a cooperation for the sake of our nation, people and reconciliation? that's fair enough! peace! god bless cambodia.
Who's running the legislative hranch?.Hun Sen is everywhere since day 1.Oh what the country is?.When will be last?
Why should the SRP be nice to a dictator Vietcong slave Hun Xen with third grade education?
Like they said the nice guy will always finish last! Whatever happen to those nicer political parties after joining with AH HUN XEN and it seems that they all have disappear from political arena!
SRP doesn't need favoritism from AH HUN XEN! If AH HUN XEN want SRP to be nicer and maybe it is about time that he must obey and enforce the law that enshrines in Cambodian constitution!
The CPP and SRP are oil and water that will not mix well together. CPP will never accepting SRP as a political ally because of its, westernize, principles and unbiased agendas--unlike the disgraced Funcipec party. Will SRP ever topple the CPP? Not likely without the backing from the US. The SRP's recent maneuvers lost the confident amidst its supporters for being too passive and silence of its support for land grabbing and illegal concession of natural resources to foreign investors. Why SRP's leader seek only support from EU for its political movements and ignores the US? That is hard to understand. Sihanouk miscalculated to side with China and Hanoi brought demise to our nation, and just hope that the SRP will not have similar farsighted. I don't like CPP and hope its will perish in a blink of eyes, but Khmer will not find peace in their land until there are stronger opposition leaderships to play with a strong supporting military might like the US. My conclusion is the SRP will never win the majority vote in Cambodia, and this Khmer will continue to live under this (Hanoi)impunity regime till it becomes a Viet's satellite state.
I urge all of my brother/sister khmers that have not read or know, plese go to our history site!
