Hun Sen’s superstition: Tomb-like building for the Council of Ministers will see his power demise

Khmer Post (Cambodian newspaper in the US)
No. 03, Vol. 33
06-25 April 2009

Translated from Khmer by Heng Soy

The pyramid-shape building styled after an ancient Greek (KI-Media note: Egyptian?) tomb has almost been completed to lodge the new office of the Council of Ministers. This building also includes a room for prime minister Hun Sen.

The elegant and luxurious middle-eastern looking pyramid building did not please Hun Sen because his office space is smaller than Sok An’s. Furthermore, the building is located next to a street thoroughfare and Hun Sen’s office is located right underneath the pyramid itself. Hun Sen’s wife does not want him to work there because she is concerned that he will meet his power demise in the future.

In this luxurious building, each high ranking government official will have their own international-standard office, as planned by Sok An, Hun Sen’s in-law. However, when the building was almost completed, Hun Sen was not pleased at all and he delayed its inauguration and he did not want to work from there.

Hun Sen was angry at Sok An, his in-law, for the construction of this building in which China provided $36 million in financing, and the Cambodian government paid $6 million. Rumors circulated that corruption affected this construction project.

Along with Hun Sen’s displeasure on Sok An, an official at the Council of Ministers revealed that Hun Sen used to visit the construction side, and he was not pleased that (1) his office is smaller than Sok An’s, (2) there will be a lot of foot traffic nearby, and (3) it is located on the ground floor. What Hun Sen wanted was an office space at the top of the building where his helicopter could land and take off in case of danger.

The same official above added that rumors are circulating in which Hun Sen’s wife is not pleased as well with the pyramid-shape building. She went to consult a fortuneteller who told her that the building is not good, and if Hun Sen insists on working there, he will meet his power demise for sure. Therefore, the best solution is to find another place for him to work instead.

The source above said that Hun Sen decided to buy a piece of land belonging to Yeay Phu – a major tycoon [and crony of Hun Sen] in Cambodia – located nearby to build a new office building, regardless of the cost involved. Furthermore, the building contractor for Hun Sen’s office is also a relative of Sok An also, observers see in this action a renewed corruption case.

The source added that, based on the type of the building, the construction cost for the pyramid-shape building would be about $20 million only, therefore, rumors are circulating about a major case of corruption ($42 million actually spent for the construction) under Hun Sen’s leadership.

Even though Hun Sen knows that Sok An is stepping all over him, he did not dare scold Sok An because the latter is his major Guru (teacher), and Sok An used to lead him for several years already. Therefore, any misunderstanding between the pair will be resolved sooner or later.

Major Chumteavs (wives of high-ranking officials) ran around town looking for fortunetellers to look for the feng-shui of their husbands’ workplaces, but the majority of them found out that the location [of the new Council of Ministers building] is “ bad.” Furthermore, government leaders can clearly see the corruption of those involved in the construction of this building, and Hun Sen himself also clearly sees the major corruption involved in the construction of the Council of Ministers building, but he is not willing to deal with it.

It should be noted that pyramids in the Middle East were mainly built to hold the body of dead rulers. Most of these pyramids are thousands of years old, and nowadays, they are considered as famous World Heritage sites.

That’s a bull-crab fortune teller! Should it the pyramid translates the other way around? May be Pyramid should be translated as a crown for PM Hun Sen, not a tomb.

This superstition is nonsense and brainless for believers only!

Anyway, they choose what they want to believe. Who care!

Good thing Sok An didn't put his office in the basement with all the rats there.

Whether the report is accuarate or not, the statement above is absolutely correct. So beware of the haunted house!!! What comes around goes around.

There will be many mummies and we will preserve this building as the most notorious Khmer pyramid for Communist dictator mummies.

I think the basement room for Hun Sen can be a safe heaven or a trap for him in case a bomb dropped on the building. So Hun Sen can be protected or flatten. Scary!!! Bunrany, don't allow him to work in there. Ask him to work in grave (cave), so he can be protected for life.

Beware of the haunted house....

Fear of loosing power; fear of not having enough money; fear for a curse; fear for your ownself; fear for your own tail like a lion; fear of hell; fear of dead; fear of criticism; fear of fear itself; fear of a shadow; fear of nothing and nothing at all; and fear of everything after all.

Fear is haunting you.
Fear inside you.
Fear around you.
Fear here, fear there,
Fear, fear everywhere.
Fear!Fear!Fear!

You dream of fear because you make people fear.

This is Hun Sen's fear.

Hun Sen's power demise will be around 2010.

This is a built tomb for him for sure, according to the Hinduist prediction for his building up of SINS and bad Karma for khmer people.

How long Hun Sen and Sok An can go along with each other? Now, financially Hun Sen is making his living through Sok An's provision.

In Cambodia, the huge source of money is under Sok An's hands. Sok An has 100 hands like Vishnu and 10 millions cells of brain? Yes, it is true. Any one dare confront with Sok An will face trouble. Ke Kim Yan has been signed to investigate his previous land ownership by the signature of Sok An.

Sok An is the president of more than 100 authority such as Cambodia Petroleum Authority, Apsara Authority, ECCC etc.

IT'S VERY SHAMEFUL FOR WHOEVER ARCHITECT THAT CAME UP WITH THIS KIND OF PYRAMID DESIGN. How could this architect apply Egyptian style to Cambodia? The design of this building should be the form of Angkor Wat or Preah Vihear temple style. We're Cambodia, Khmer empire, not Egyptian.

Anyway The Khmer empire was destroyed piece by piece by powerful man, Ah Peasant Hun Shit and Sihanouk, Sdech moreon.

May that Mighty God Pyramid burried Hun Sen alive first and Borany Hun Shit second?

Hun Sen and Sok An must learn how to separate Public office and private properties. This newly built Council of Ministers building was donated by China for Cambodia not for Hun Sen and Sok An. Therefore they should treate this donation with respect. They are not deserving to stay there all the time. I hope Next election, they will be gone. So the New Leaders should come and work in here. The duilding looks more fitting in a desert area country, like somewhere in the Mid-East or Africa. It does look that attractive in the middle of Phnom Penh. I agree with Hun Sen and his wife for this one.

Hun Sen must be an idiot khmer rouge truely ignorant about development. Before the building can be erected, the architect must have drawned the plan. Therefore each peson must have read the plan proprely before this plan is being approved to build. Why they complain when the building is already complete? They have to go to Hell for that mistake. It look alright on the paper, but it is completed , and time to move in,his wife suddenly has a sensational feeling that there is something wrong ,and according to the Chinese's stupidity or the FUNGSUAI thing. The whole building look more and more like a tomb to her.

Maybe Hun Sen is right about that pyramid-shape building. I don't like it either by Phong Suay if you believe in it. I think the pyramid which representing the hierarchy is being squeezed by the two sides, which is perfect example of Cambodia politics right now...

What happen with you5:02,5:03, and 9:03PM?

Do you want Hun Sen to get curse and trap to death in that tomb?????

Cambodia will have another unplane museam for tourist?
Is better than Pol Pot tomp and he was woeking harder for the Chinese!

i like the new building's look and design! it looks unique and sturdy and will prabably become one of phnom penh many recognizable landmark buildings in the future as phnom penh becoming more and more a metropolitan khmer capital city. it's good to build many unique architecture in cambodia. god bless cambodia.

Anonymous said...

Could it be that Huynh Sen's office is smaller than Sok An?
Anyway, get this piece of shit outa here. This type of architecture have no relations to Cambodia whatsoever.
Perhaps, the Cambodian government need to relocate their office to the Middle East.
This would make a lot of Khmer people happy.

hey, when you build tall buildings, they can't always be in khmer traditional architecture design all the time as tall buildings needs to withstand the strong wind, the weight, etc... so, sometime a different style is used instead. i think as long as they look nice and attractive, and not chaotic, then i think it is ok for phnom penh. now, can someone design a khmer skyscraper to look khmer? well, also, did you know all skyscrapers all over the world seem to have the same design anyway, maybe just a slight difference at on the outside or the top; but they all the same, really! i'm no expert in architecture design, but i can understand the idea or concept behind them, though. god bless cambodia.

4:06am,
There is absolutely nothing wrong with architect a building that withstand mother nature, but to build one that assimilate the symbol of other country is outright wrong.
The sturdiness or earthquake proof is suitable to meet building code, but the exterior shouldn't symbolized any other country.
Didn't we scold Thai for copying us?
