Living on the edge

A home stands perilously close to collapsing into the Tonle Sap river in Prey Leap, just outside Phnom Penh, on National Road 6 earlier this month. The owner has since fled the property, which is no longer safe to live in. River dredging has left homes along the river at risk from eroding riverbanks. (Photo by: DAP-News)

All houses built on the river bank are " anarchic construction". It''s good that those houses are collapsed.
An example for other people not to build anarchically their house on the riber banks, like Tonlesap river, Mekong river, Takhmau river.......

Well done, let them collapse!

i know, it's kind of unattractive. however, i think gov't should build cement concrete all along the riverbanks in the city limit of phnom penh and all other major cities that are located near the rivers or other waterways. you know, in america, take the city of sacramento for example, gov't built levees and concret to stablize or reenforce the riverbanks from collapsing. also the city of paris did the same; so, it's a technical matter, really. hope in the near future phnom penh city and other major khmer cities like kompong cham, battambang, siem reap, etc will have beautiful cement side walks along their riverbanks. god bless cambodia.
