Mrs Mu Sochua agrees to stay in jail if she loses lawsuit against Mr. Hun Sen

Reported by Khmerization

Mrs. Mu Sochua (pictured), who had sued Prime Minister Hun Sen for defamation, said that she is not scared of a counter-suit from Prime Minister Hun Sen, reports Deum Ampil.

Early last week, Mr. Mu Sochua had indicated she would lodge a lawsuit against Mr. Hun Sen in the Phnom Penh Court for defamation related to his speech against her in Kampot a few weeks previously. On Friday (24th April), Mr. Hun Sen had lodged a counter-suit against Mrs. Mu Sochua and had implied that the 90 members of parliament from the Cambodian People's Party had agreed to support the lifting of Mrs. Mu Sochua's parliamentary immunity.

Regarding Mr. Hun Sen's counter-suit, Mrs Mu Sochua said: "I have received the information that the government's lawyers had lodged a counter-suit against me and they planned to lift my parliamentary immunity. But I am not afraid and I am not scared. I will not flee from Cambodia and I will not use my American citizenship. I'd rather stay in jail. I want the people to see (the injustices of) my case."

On 4th of April 2009, Prime Minister Hun Sen made a public speech in Kampot, where Mrs Mu Sochua was the only female representing the province, by referring to "a woman member of parliament from Kampot who is a 'strongwoman' (cheung klang) and a trouble-maker."

Mrs. Mu Sochua considers the speech to be offensive, insulting and defamatory against her because she is the only female MP from Kampot.

Mr. Hun Sen was referring to Mr. Mu Sochua's altercation with an army general who was a member of Mr. Hun Sen's party during an election campaign in 2008. During the altercation, Mr. Mu Sochua had lost a button from her blouse. Mr. Mu Sochua said that during the altercation, the general had twisted her hand which caused the button of her blouse to loosen showing her bra. She sued the general for misdemeanor, but the case hasn't been resolved yet.

Deum Ampil news had just reported that at 8:30 AM on Monday 27 April 2009, Mrs. Mu Sochua had officially lodged her lawsuit against prime minister Hun Sen in the Phnom Penh Court.

I don't think this is about who is a strongman or a strongwoman or who wears the pants. It is clear that Mrs. Mu Sochua is very courageous. She doesn't want militarymen to treat women as second class citizens or second class parliamentarians.

The more they tighten the grip on her, the more she can show the world how the Cambodian government is a dictatorship communist ideaology country. If it takes a women to free Cambodia for the world to see, then the world is blinded eye like Hun Sen.

I stand by you.

A thousand journey begins with the first step... this is the first step. Cambodia will benefit greatly if HUN SEN taking account for his action. What he does has greater effects than just being a prime minister. If people see he can do it, they will follow suit. I hope he will take a second look for what he is doing it. It will not make him bad by doing the right thing; in fact, it will make him a better man by taking the responsibility for his action.

This is not the first step in this fool's journey. He has made so many steps already in oppressing the high-profile people who dare to act against him, and he always declares that he's a win-win man and he wins.

I wish that I could see Hun Sen going to court to challenge Mrs. Mu. I want to listen to his own words, the words of a dubious Ph. D, in the court of laws. How would they sounds like. Will his words sound like those of an educared man or will is sound like those of an ill-bred bastard?

The case is very interesting in many points of view. But first of all, my hat off for this courageous MP from the Official Opposition. Probably you have made the first step in liberating Cambodia from tyranny! There are a lot of capable people in Cambodia, but your courage in suing HS sets yourself apart from the rest of us.
It is interesting to watch how Cambodian premier, the ruling party CPP and their foreign advisers handle this minor case. Will the Cambodia justice system be truly independent and care enough about the justice. Certainly the whole world watch them: country development partners, investors, ordinary Cambodian citizens, and the diasporas. If HS was to win and put our female MP in prison, the premier will be undoubtedly perceived by Cambodians and the world community as tiny dictator, unable to recognize his fault and is interested only to win on everything! Morally very weak individual! Your government, Cambodian justice system, Cambodian social justice, and morality of yourself…Please wake up Mr. Prime Minister. It is easy to say sorry and sincerely apologize and the case could end there with the applaud of everyone. Please help yourself…

My hat off to Mrs. Mu Sochua. But I worry for her safety for daring to go against a "gangster".

Thanks to China who has designed the coffin like Council of Minister for Hun Sen. This is the bad omen for Hun Sen. His luck is vanishing (os leak. His in-laws (Hok Lundy) insists to meet him very much and wanted him to be a Premier in the Hell also, coz now they have only Police Inspector General, but lack of Prime Minister...and Hok Lundy is boring being alone and miss his in-laws Hun Sen very much.

May Buddhist God make this become true....
