Property dispute between Kith Meng and Kith Thieng led to one dead bodyguard

A source revealed that on the eve of the Khmer New Year, a shooting took place between two powerful oknhas (rich tycoons) who are also siblings. The shooting led to one person dead and created a stir. Police officers who went to intervene in the incident, when they heard the names of the two okhnas, they all became scared.

The same source added that on the eve of the Khmer New year, Kith Meng went to the Rock Karaoke center for entertainment, but there, he had a dispute with Kith Thieng, his older brother and the owner of the rock center, in a VIP room. Following the intense dispute, the shooting took place.

An unofficial source indicated that the shooting between the two brothers could involve property dispute between the pair. The same source added that the shooting between the rival siblings led to the death of one of Kith Meng’s bodyguards and significant damage in the VIP karaoke room.

The two brothers could not be reached over the phone to provide clarifications on this shooting case.

Past shootings that occur in Phnom Penh involving rich people, or offspring of powerful government officials, or bodyguards of powerful government officials led to a great stir and fear among the city dwellers. For example, in the case involving the bodyguard of Kep Chuktema, the city governor, and the bodyguard of Chhoeun Chanthan, Chea Sim’s bodyguard chief, in the city center on 18 March 2009, Kep Chuktema’s bodyguard was injured and Chhoeun Chanthan’s bodyguard died in a pool of blood. Up until now, the cops have not even found the shooting bodyguard to send to jail yet because they are afraid of touching their superiors. This case clearly shows the impotence of the Phnom Penh police force led by police commissioner Touch Naroth.

However, when poor children played with plastic toy guns or when they are involved in shootings in public places, the cops always bring them in to sentence them. In these latter cases, the cops would then write reports to their bosses to make themselves look good. However, when it comes to sons of rich tycoons or government officials, or powerful tycoons shooting each other in anarchy in public places, the cops are never seen arresting the culprits and take them to jail, nor sentence them according the law, even when the cops know full well the identity of these perpetrators. This shows that the cops apply the law on sons of the poor people who are not related to the powerful government officials, but when it boils down to the offspring of powerful officials, the cops hesitate to touch them.

..I'm not sure if this report is true or not!! But it sounded unreliable.
However, if what in the report about the siblings was true i'd feel sorry for them. And sorry for Cambodia that law is not fully and fairly enforced...sic!

The are both raised in Australia. In the western society, everyone is taught to be independent. Even from the age of baby, they are given separate rooms if the parents can afford to. They normally grow up with pretty much of their own privacy. So people are not that willing to share their assets, and this is contrast to the Khmer traditional culture.

There is no right or wrong, in western world, fighting each other for legacy or inheritance are not uncommon so people are not surprise if it happens. Even in Cambodia, for those who do not have the spirit of sharing will still just behave the same, particularly those who grow up in current culture which is diluted by the west.

Yes no surprise, we are just heading to the west--a modern world

Yes I agreed with you that you learnt selfishness from the West. But for me I learnt to give and to share from the West not from the East. I also have seen that many Cambodian people abroad sent money to their relatives in Cambodia but I hardy seen the rich people in Cambodia shared with their poor relatives they let them die in front of their eyes.

Please do not blame this incident as a result of the west culture at all. I don't how much these two idiots have learnt from the west? But I can see that these two idiots have learnt so mucch from Hun sen and from other khmer rouge leaders instead. They have lost all their identities and their origine. Kith Has killed one of his eldest brothers already. So to kill another one is nothing to him. Even his father, if stand in front of him, he will kill too. Our Lord Buddha has said that hwen people are greeded and love power and moneys without having any moral, they can kill anyone just for moneys and power. He will be very sonn be killed by Hun To for an exchange. we must remember that he has escaped hhis death from Hok Lundy for stealing Hok Lundy daughter in law. Times will tell when all of these evils will all disappear from Cambodian land. Khmer Australia

4:14PM, I have to disagree on your comment. Actually it is the other way around. A majority of kids from the west or raised in the west were raise to be independence, polite, and to respect the law. Like in United States, it doesn’t who you are or what you are, if you break the law and found guilty, your status will strip and then you will go straight to jail. As they say "there is no man above the law."

Sure in the US are the people very polite, well educated and all respect the law, therefore wea Khmer advise the US authorities to close down all the prisons.
I was shooting by black gangs at day time in DC area in 1998, without any reason.

6:41 and the dude from Australia

You have insulted Cambodia and her people. Well obviously you live in a very small box. Things that happen in the United States are far more entrenched, more complex form of corruption than you see in our country. Cambodia isn't perfect and our form of corruption is right on top of the table for all to see and analyze. in America, because of the big population and lack of general interest in politics, people do not dig into too much and corruption gets buried (even after a conviction) to save face. People are not afraid of things they can see and understand, its the unknown and the un-understandable (is this even a word?) that is truly hideous. So stop bashing on Cambodia and our people you American loving sons of bitches. How is that for insults?
