RCAF vehicle impunity is unfair and must end

Dear Editor,

Returning to Phnom Penh from Kampong Cham on Sunday, March 22, we took the Prek Kdam ferry that connects Route 5 with Route 61. We were part of a group of nine vehicles waiting for the next ferry. My car was the seventh in line.

Three silver vehicles pulled up behind us - all sporting Royal Cambodian Armed Forces licence plates. Two were four-wheel drive saloons, and the third was a four-wheel drive pickup truck.

The group purchased tickets, and all three RCAF-plated vehicles drove down the wrong side of the road and took up positions at the front of the queue. As a result, the eighth and ninth cars in our group were forced to miss the ferry when it finally arrived.

The RCAF vehicles did not seem to be on official business. Too many of the vehicles' occupants were casually dressed.

Surely the vehicle bearing the licence plate RCAF 23607 and the two other vehicles have no right in times of peace to behave in such an arbitrary fashion, showing absolutely no respect for their fellow citizens.

The time has come for the use of RCAF number plates to be reviewed, as is the case with the police. What are such plates doing on fancy four-wheel drives? They should be confined to purely military vehicles that are conducting military business, not military families on private jaunts.

Thanks the witer for making this known to the public through the Post.

In fact, many more of us know about this. RCAF licence plates have been used mostly by private cars, which is not right.

While they are supposed to be used by only military officers and on official military missions, they have actually been used by female singers and movie stars, by the mafia Chinese rich, and by the powerful's or rich's youngsters. These people drive very crazily, agressively, and lawlessly.

If the government really wants to reform, please put an end to such anarchy.

" Finally Buddha our supreme boss said well that the ignorance is the source of the suffering, it lights(enlightens) that the ambition is a shape of this ignorance to cause non-stop the misfortune of the Cambodians because the ambition of their leaders to obtain the power with life and to aim at expansionism of their neighbours lasts for a very long time, but thanks to the truth Buddha was able to leave this circle of the suffering and to reach the elimination thus "

I, myself, went to visit Cambodia several years ago and amazed that these government vehicles acting the stupid thing. I went to Nak Loung ferry with my cousin. While we're waiting for the ferry, there were four vehicles with SUV lexus and land cruiser. They drove the wrong side of the gate and pursued to the front with their powerful license plate. They don't respect the rest of us who wait under the hot sun for 1/2 hour or so. I myself don't have respect for these people and try to look at them who are they? They're a scum and under class people who act like a gangster.

Good citizen won't do that kind of behavior. We need to learn to respect each other and no one should be above the law including Ah Hun Sen. He is from peasant family and now his followers act like animal from the jungle which has no law and order.

Good that someone put this article on the website, but those dump people can't read English anyway.

Do you ever see American cut off in front of people? The white people respect others than we do. Even the front lawn with nice grass, we should walk on it. The owner love their grass. Going to grocery store or some other public place, we should wait in line and not to cut in front of people.

WE NEED TO RESPECT OURSELF AND RESPECT OTHERS. OTHERS WILL RESPECT US BACK.

Understandable your feeling with all VIP-system in Cambodia.
But I am not agree with you, to call the PM of Cambodia, Mr. Hun Sen "Ah Hun Sen". You wanted to teach others, that you are a good citizen and have a very well educational background. Why you still used that kind of language. My short reply to your comment, you are just a "Caucasian Cambodian".

Don't worry, it is from me HUN SEN.
Soon I'll get rid all these VIP want to be.

We don't want those in our society.

We will make them respect the public.
Lately I've blast those who abuse power. They can't abuse power. They got to respect people because they got elected by the people. And they need to work for the people. They can't be the boss to the people. Even me I'm working for the people. People are the boss.

It will happen.

They need to wait in line just like other.

They are not special. If they are special they should be coming with convoy. Not on a family trip to some where with that gov license plate.

Those plates are meaningless now cause every where you always see them.

Communist expansion (Soviet)
+ Vietnam expansion + Khmer Rouge = vietnamese invation of cambodia.

Who benefits the most? Vietnamese because 1)VN got rid of its enemy (Khmer Rouge), 2)VN can control Cambodia until now, 3)VN gains territory (stole Khmer land) and continue to do so, 4)VN had successfully honored Ho Chi Minh's goal of controling the whole Indo China.

Vietnamese invasion indeed saved most of Cambodian life, but that was not the purpose of the invasion. The real purpose of the incvasion is to oust the Khmer Rouge and establish the expansion. On the other hand, the invasion had killed many Cambodian as well.

Please note that VN also invaded Laos. What was the reasons? There was no Lao Rouge there.

The life saved is the consequense of Vietnam expansion or it can be sen as a coincidence.

Quetion:

Are Cambodians willing to sacrifice their land, their rights, their lives, sovereingty and be sufferred of the Vietnamese influences because they believe that the VN saved Cambodian lives from the Khmer Rouge?

If someone save you from danger and you have to be his slave for the rest of your life to pay the gratitude, would you agree to do that?

If VN respects Cambodia's integrity and stop support and control its Cambodian puppet government, then a mutual respect between VN and Cambodia should be hornored.

it's called reforms, the cambodia needs a lot of reforms in our thinking, our society, etc... no one should be allowed to be above the law, no matter who or what position they held, otherwise, there will no no justice, and abuses. when khmer people understand the importance of having the rule of law, they too will disapprove of impunity. remember power is now given, not born with because all it takes now is the power of the vote and they will be out of office in no time, especially if they are ineffective leader, abusive leader, or think they are above the law, etc... please educate all khmer people to understand that they too have the power to vote leaders out of office if they are not compatible with with their job! god bless cambodia.

Mr. G, thanks for noticing. That's just a miniscule problem you've seen.

The Whole country is MADE FOR THE ELITE KHMER PEOPLE.

8:10PM,

I respect only the people do a good deed, not people like Ah Kwak who killed too many people and keeps selling Cambodia properties to VN and Siem. I'm in the jungle in the US. Freedom of speech and expression, it's so called First Amendment. I'm not a fool people like you to bow to low class people like Ah Kwak and CPP supporters. I'm 1000% anti-CPP. I'm a democratic person who values Cambodia people's life and prosperity.

That is another thing i hate about cambodia, the way they treat people is not fair at all! those poeple in the car are just regular people civilian just like us! not a military or an officials!

Anonymous said...

Do not talk too much about that! Only under 90-seat-Hun regime that high ranking officials and their cronies have the priority to do wherever, whatever and however they want.

if half the country is using RCAF license plates what's stopping the other half from getting their own? sour grapes hey? and i don't see why i can't get one for my cyclo.
