'Cheque book' judiciary claims in Cambodia

May 19, 2009
ABC Radio Australia

Numerous stories of corruption in Cambodia's judicial system are filtering into newspapers in Phnom Penh.

Alleged corruption includes claims that graduates are forced to pay out tens of thousands of dollars in bribes, to be considered for posts as judges, in a country where some members of the judiciary did not even finish high school.

Presenter: Sonja Heydeman
Speakers: Professor Carl Thayer, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Australian Defence Force Academy; Sisowath Sereyroth, Vice President of Cambodia's Opposition FUNCINPEC Party

That is the true story being implemented at the Royal School of Magistrature.

- For admission into the School: Varied from 30 000 US$ to 50 000 US$ depending on your relationship.

- Students'Exam papers will never released to students to see their marks or comments from the lecturers. Marks will only released just before the division of posting. Because, by ordre of the merit, students will be posted according to their marks.

- Posting: Varied from 30 000 US$ to 100 000 US$ depending on where they are going to be stationed.

Please any body can clarify me on how to reform the judicial system in Cambodia if the corruption in the system start growing from the begining of the system?

Pease help.

to all KI readers,

please beware, Soy Sopheap of DAP news is an imposter. He's a CPP member and Hun Sen's "Ass Kisser on CTN!" DAP is owned by him and secretly funded by the CPP gang. DAP is located next door to Phnom Penh City Hall - which is now sold to CamKo Company.

KI Media should stop posting DAP "BS" propagada news!
