Khmer overseas ask the American president to investigate Khmer Krom's issues

Source: Radio Free Asia
Reported by Khmerization

Overseas Khmers are gathering signatures in order to send a petition to U.S President Barack Obama (pictured) to ask him to order an investigation into the abuses and persecutions of Khmer Krom by the Vietnamese authority, reports Radio Free Asia.

Dr. Tith Naranhkiri, a professor from the John Hopkins University and a former senior official of the IMF, told RFA that his group wants Vietnam to respect the human rights of the Khmer Krom people. He said: "We want President Obama to investigate that issue. If the President wants the respect of human rights and if he wants justice, it must not for our country (America) only, but it must be for the whole world. This is what we want. We want the President to examine the human right abuses in Cambodia and of the Khmer Krom (in Vietnam). The President has defended the victims of Darfur. Why can't he defend the victims of Cambodia and the Khmer Krom people? This is what we want. We are not asking them (American leaders) to do what is impossible. We only ask what they have promised to do for us. And if we don't remind them, who will remind them?"

Dr. Tith Naranhkiri said that he is really worried about the situations in Cambodia and in Kampuchea Krom. He said: "First, what can we do about the Vietnamese persecutions of the Khmer Krom people? Secondly, what can we do about the illegal Vietnamese immigrants who had come to settled in Cambodia since 1979 under the Khmer-Vietnamese Friendship Treaty. Now, our country has no indepedence. If the Vietnamese tell Hun Sen to turn right, he will turn right. If the Vietnamese tell him to turn left, he will turn left. The illegal Vietnamese settlers poured into Cambodia everyday without any attempt to stop them. This is because our Khmer leaders are corrupt, so the Vietnamese they use money to bribe them. Also Hun Sen is very scared of Vietnam because he was propped up by Vietnam. This is why I do not talk about the two issues separately because now the Vietnamese abused and persecuted the Khmer Krom and also they send their settlers to live in Cambodia. So, at this present time, they have achieved both of their aims. That's why I am really worried that if the Vietnamese invade Cambodia again, we have nowhere to escape."

This is one of the Sihanoukists cry wolf...Folks watch him like a hawk.
This Baby Doc and his Papa were in the same bed with Sihanouk when Yuon took old Kampuchea krom and present Kampuchea.

He had no idea what Yuon did to Khmer since Papa arrested Son Ngoc Thanh for fighting for independence.

7:49 AM,
You seem to know something about this. So tell us what's wrong with whatever Dr. Tith has done. In addition, if you know a better way to help the Khmer Krom, please share with us. We want to help. Your opinion is very much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm not 7:49am, but I know that Dr. Naranhkiri and his father Kim Tith were ones of Sihanouk's confidants. Khim Tith served Sihanouk loyally as a minister and Dr. Naranhkiri did return to Cambodia in 1991 but Ranariddh didn't give him any position so he returned to the U.S very bitter and turned anti-Sihanouk since then.

But we should not criticize him for what he is doing now because he is trying to help Khmer Krom and Cambodia in general. We should give him moral support for his great efforts.

Like his father, this guy hadn't spoken sincerely about Khmer Krom or any one else.

What's he after???

i agree, sometimes we all need a strong advocate from the USA for human rights all over the world to include khmer krom indigenous people in vietnam. the world cannot go on to ignore this issue any longer. khmer kroms are indigenous people of the former khmer territories of the mekong river delta in present-day vietnam; and as a group of indigenous minority in vietnam, khmer krom people need advocate and protection from the world's biggest human rights advocators, the USA. thank you and god bless america and all khmer krom people and cambodia.

When one's doing good, why attack his past, if the past were true?

When one's doing a good deed, keep encourage and not let him down, even one has flaws?

This is a way to unite! Not a way to divide!

I think this is inappropriate with some people. They don't want to see the benefits of the mass by a few who are taking initiatives in the short term; however, they like to discourage those who do good deeds so that they think they are better than those who try to do them.

Pls wake up and at least encourage those have positive on society, especially Khmer society.

We need people like him, Dr. Naranhkiri, who is an invaluable human resource, unlike those who are uneducated and heap benefits after seeds have been sowed, to lead the way for victory.

That's how you unite! People always say unite we live, divide we die, but they've told us how to do so. So this is my perspective.

Khmer Krom’s issues? United States can’t do anything much about communist VietCong behavior. It won’t affect much since they’re communism.

Point to the inconsistencies of Dr. Tith's past. There are some people going around and would like to accuse and discredit any Khmer who stands for Khmer or Khmer Krom as dishonest or having an ulterior motives or shady past.

We must examine the evidence for ourselves and consider who have to gain from spreading these defamations against patriotic Khmers.

Think! Khmer people Unite, we live. There is no Khmer Ovesea or Khmer inside, those who make this separation are playing a divide and conquer techniques. Logically why would Khmer do this to ourselves? Think.

i belive sometime when people attack each other, eith emotionally or physically, it is usually based on greed, selfishness, and some kind of personal ambition like power hunger, etc... in the long terms, in serves the country no good. i hope khmer people are awaken by now and see the world because with the rule of law, there will be no double standard for anyone. everyone will be treated in accordance to the rule of law set up to protect everyone. our nation of cambodia needs this kind of rule of law society as our people had suffered too long already. we all must strive to be smarter and to help each other to see and understand the important issue our nation faces. we all must work together to help our country first before we can help others eventually. everyone of us can really make a difference if we want to. it will take a lot of self and government reforms as well. i also think embrace religion, i mean buddhist, christian or any other religion will help us heal spiritually, and emotionally, etc... it's all about see the importance of helping each other. even personal greed and ambition have a limit. we have to maintain the equilibrium in order not to go to both ends of extreme nor not up to par as well. yes, strike the balance in everything we do so to avoid problem with each other. thank you and god bless cambodia and all khmer people.

Dear All,
I must admit that we are all not perfectly good as we are all human being. Therefore we shouldn't try to attack to each other personally. What is our common goal is to protect our country of birth and to protect our helpless people. We need good leadership role model. So far we have a few in NGO such as Miss Seng Theary, Dr Pong Chiv Guech,Mr Lao Mong Hay Mr Ou Vireak, Mr Mam Sonando etc..and a few in politic such as Mr Son Chhay and his team. If we still fight to each other, we will not archieve our goal to liberate our country from the present evils. Areak Prey

Dr. Tith, how can you help Krom Krom? since you can't help khmer while you were with Ranariddth?

I don't think President Obama would cares about vietnam communist, about human rights since the fall of indochina. Look at president Carter in 1976 he stayed silent while cambodia communist were killing million khmers.

Anonymous said...

Let him try 11;47am. Why did you have to throw Rannaridh pie on his face? One thing you have to know that he embraces Ly Ngoc Dinh/Diep/Yiep very much, because Yiep knows one best thing is cursing King Sihanouk and Dr. Tith loves it.

Not only Obama does not care, he has no capacity to push Vietnam around, since he is also Maxist, and the US since Clinton administration uses Vietnam as its ear and eyes in SEA.

Communist Americans are big government big spending and coward.
Jimmy Carter was a sore loser. How many American lives were hanged by Iranians because of Carter? Bill Clinton may be the only best Democrat Prz. I doubt others can be like Bill Clinton.

Khmer KRom will get independent soon. Look at East Timorese, under Democrat of Bill Clinton he made Indonesia gave up the control of East Timor. Khmer Krom will grant independent under President Obama leadership too.

Obama, Khmer Krom will adopt your style of government in Khmer Krom land once we got our independent.

12:56 AM,
A warning back to you so you can wake up and see the reality of Khmer life...Whatever this guy Dr. Tith can or cannot do will not, I repeat, will not lead to the killing Fields that had been caused by the flipflopping "demogogic" politics of this crazy "playboy" prince known to you and I as SIHANOUK...If anything, Khmer got nothing to lose but the slavery to the freaking Viet's ass!!!
អក
P.s. I wasn't at all angry when I wrote what I wrote @10:16 AM there.

How can Dr. Tith lead the cpuntry to the Killing Fields if he was not the leader back then? If he was, what can he do to defend Cambodia from all attacks? Even he didn't plan the killing fields, the Yuon would do anyway. They're already inside Cambodia and they speak Khmers like us.

8:20am,
Now it seems you are trying to make sense or justifying your position.

You attacked 10:49am comment as no human nor Khmer. You had no idea what it takes to be a real Khmer.I have lived and fought as a Khmer or Khmer Krom in lifetime.Had you?

A Khmer is not afraid to speak against or about a demagogue and can spot one like the letter author from miles away.

In tract records this guy had never been sincere over Khmer Krom and Khmer problems,in general. He's never spent effort or time for Khmer but his name only.

If you were Khmer, you should learn the old saying already by now: "before speaking out you should twist tongue three times."

It appeared you hadn't.

East Timor and Kampuchea Krom are sketched different situations.

From war v. terrorists like Bali terrorist attacks, US took East Timor. Now new friendhip US-Vietnam, KKK won't have a chance.
I visited SV a few times, most KK villages have been transformed, and the fasting growing citizens in KKK are mostly Vietnamese from North.

The single most important fact is: KK would be just the same as he Native Americans.

Here is how the Vietnamese would say to the US "American should give the country back to the native Americans and native of Hawaiiand, then we will give KK back to Khmers."
