The SRP’s men and women of principl

Opinion by Khmerization
20th May, 2009

“People have been talking about an outright victory for the CPP. Considering that the CPP controls 100% of all levels of local, district and municipal administrations, the results of this municipal and district election should be seen as a victory for the SRP. Starting from zero councillors before the election to 600 councillors after the election, the SRP had emerged as a force that can weather the storm.”

Mrs. Mu Sochua’s testimonies of the courageous men and women of the Sam Rainsy Party who refused to sell their conscience to the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) during the municipal election is very inspiring, despite threats, coercions and the offer of massive amount of money to buy their votes.

These SRP’s councillors, who are poor, have resisted the temptation of a get-rich-quick scheme and opted to go with their conscience and principle. They are good role models for all future generations of Khmer politicians. They should be commended for their non-corrupt and clean conscience.

People have been talking about an outright victory for the CPP. Considering that the CPP controls 100% of all levels of local, district and municipal administrations, the results of this municipal and district election should be seen as a victory for the SRP. Starting from zero councillors before the election to 600 councillors after the election, the SRP had emerged as a force that can weather the storm, considering that there are massive frauds and vote-buying committed by the ruling CPP.

The results of this election have put the SRP on another step forward to strengthening itself as a political party that can withstand the political storm that have been created by the ruling CPP, especially Prime Minister Hun Sen. But importantly, it means that, with the SRP councillors working by their sides, the CPP’s councillors who were prone to commit corruption, will have to think twice before they will doing anything wrong because their actions can be exposed by the SRP’s councillors. Services at the district and municipal levels will be improved because of competition and because of the fears of being exposed by the opposition SRP for neglect of duties as have been practising by the CPP-controlled administrations in the past.

Another good news for the SRP is, with this solid foundation at the district and municipal levels, it can strengthen its party one step further. And the conscience that have been shown by courageous SRP’s councillors who refused to sell out to the CPP vote-buying scheme is very impressive and inspiring indeed. With this clean image and clear conscience, they have inspired voters who will look up to them as their role models and true representatives. They are the SRP’s men and women of principle.

*News has arrived that 9 SRP's councillors had been expelled from the party for taking bribes to vote for the CPP.

Khmerization, why are you still rationalize the real results.

In psychology, rationalization is when a human use reasoning to justify for something that didn't go favorably in their favor. It is one of the defense mechanism for the ego.

There aren't many who can resist the temptation while being such poor, but people with patriotism can. Congratulation again!

SRP is like the withered or dead leaves of autumn, which desperately need the wild wind to scatter them and spread the seeds, so they may be nurtured by the children of spring (a spring of human consciousness, imagination, liberty, or morality).

Persistence in the evil wild wind and be able to make some progress is still much better than doing nothing but giving in to the evils without struggle. As I said before: it's natural that human beings, for their own benefit, have the tendency to do whatever, though it's illegal.

And if Hun Sen were to start as Sam Rainsy did, Hun Sen would be more desparate than Sam Rainsy is. Why? Because Hun Sen is an arrogant, cocky and ill-bred whom most decent people do not like.

Who is evil and who is not? Everything is all subjective. Maybe some of you need to realize that what is true for you isn't necessarily true for others, or otherwise, the country would be run by the SRP or someone else and not the CPP.

Obviously, Hun Sen has emerged as the strongest man out of all the bunch, Sihanouk, Ranarith, Sam Rainsy, etc.., to be able to rule Cambodia.

All of you most likely speak very proudly of the Angkor era but maybe you should take a second to think how absolute the kings back in that time was in order to have complete submission over his subjects and thus the expansion of Khmer land to its greatest size. Jayvaraman godking defeated all the small factions of Khmer people in order to unite and build an Empire known as the Khmer. Hun Sen isn't doing anything different from our very revere rulers. He was able to eliminate all the factions, Khmer Rouge, Sihanouk's royalist, Khmer Serey, etc... into one Khmer government with one Khmer people with one Khmer army.

Many of you don't live in Cambodia in the chaos of 80's or 90's to appreciate how far Cambodia has come today. Maybe, the evidence that the CPP has gained more and more votes could be a signal that majority of Khmer people see the progress and appreciate it by voting for who they think has brought Cambodia this far.

Think about that.

12:18AM – I agree with your assessment that Cambodia has come along way and made noticeable progresses. I would also agree that PM Hun Sen personally deserves much credit for what Cambodia has accomplished so far. But he must not be complacent as almost every area still requires huge improvements. I am sure you or he knows what I am referring to…

Evils are people who like to commit criminal acts like Hun Sen always does, and if you cannot distinguish the good from evils, I can say anything further, it's beyond my ability to exlpain the fools.

An d don't tell that I do not know anything. It's you who are dumb blind to reality. Hun Sen has done nothing for Cambodia. He's a traitor who signed an agreement to make a big concession to the Yuons.

Pol Pot and his clique who committed immeasurable crimes against his own people must some day receive its consequences, and they did: Pol Pot, who thought his armies were the strongest ones on earth, invaded Ha Tien and killed hundred of Yuons villagers. And that made the Yuons to get a revenge by launching a massive invasion. To manipolate the world's opinions, the smart Yuons recruited some dumb Khmers to be the figurehead of their invasion, because the Yuon know that some Khmers are easy to buy off if they are given some power and personal pleasures. Without the Yuons installing him in power, Hun Sen, the barbaric fool would never have a chance to touch any government job. Hun Sen the bastard desreve no respect from the decent Khmer people. He chose to buy respect from some fools who are more foolish than himself, and respect bought is not to be admire as respect earned! The fools are not the uneducated; some of them even have Ph. D. As long as a person acts follishly, he's properly deemed as a fool, regardless of levels of education. And education without decency does not make a person respectable.

Whether you like it or not, we are who we are. Now, either we accept that reality and try to work within that framework to improve our existence, or cry like a wolf and wait for a miracle that would never come.

There are still some people, even if they are very poor, still have decency in them to resist the temptation of a large sum of money. These men and women are the role models for our future generations of politicians. Hun Sen, without his dirty tricks and ruthless iron-fisted rule, will be nothing. He Can survive and thrive because he never hesitate to kill others if they get in his ways. Congratulations to the SRP's councilors for their clear conscience and principle.

You were most likely poor once. I think the term you want here is suicide.

1:15 AM

Yes, I am not saying Cambodia is a utopia but I admire you that you understand and can acknowledge that Cambodia has come a long way. It's easier said than done. Hun Sen isn't the perfect human being but he is the best Khmer got right now. I know there are lot of corruption and what not but you have to look around and not think it is exclusive to Cambodia. That doesn't justify it being all right but to look at things from multiple dimensions.

The fact you that you can still criticize Hun Sen but at the same time acknowledge his achievement is the proof that you are not part of the majority of the people on here who are blinded by their own cynicism. They are so down with a group so much that they can't see anything but the bad of the others and only the good of their own kinds.

We need more people like you who can criticize and at the same time see things for what they are. Yes, criticize and demand for betterment but please be sensible and impartial in your thinking process.

For everyone else, don't feel the need to be down with a gang so much that you give up your own integrity and dignity in making up your mind about any issue.

You proud of accomplishment by the Khmer Rouge CPP don't you?

Don't you know, someone success is others misery?

Do you have any comment about Hun Sen Khmer Rouge responsible for killing some of 1.7 million innocent Khmer peoples?

Let talk about ten journalists that was murder by Hun Sen Khmer Rouge government.
No one ever been arrested for the killing.
Come on, I want to hear your comments.

I needs your comments on terrorism in Cambodia on March 30, 1997 Grenade Attack on peaceful demonstration for justice reform on innocent Khmer peoples.

CPP Hun Sen Khmer Rouge supporter are so dumb.

My recommendation to you is for you not to tell others that you are Khmer, because you make Khmer peoples look bad.

You got it all wrong.

Hun Sen is the worst we got.

I have one question for Hun Sen.

Hun Sen since you are Khmer Rouge,

How many innocent Khmer peoples have you murder?

Hun Sen, you need to get on KI Media and tell us your answer..

What you are referring to about Hun Sen is absolutely wrong.

UN and other political parties that have helped Cambodia today, not Hun Sen or CPP at all.

But now the patrimony system in Cambodia has gradually become strong to exacerbate everything in Cambodia.

This is in the hand of Hun Sen.
