Virah Inson is back on American soil the after serving two tours of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Army. The former refugee came to this country looking for a better life after escaping the killing fields of Cambodia in 1980. He came to the U.S. with only his sister and brothers, their parents had been executed.
"We had an experience back in our country, we went through the civil war there in 1975," said his brother Vichet Inson.
Both brothers wanted to served their adopted country so they enlisted in the military.
"America has given so much to our family and to our country and this is one way we wanted to give back," said Inson. He served with the Marines in the first Persian Gulf War.
The brothers embraced each other surrounded by family and friends who gathered at Bush Intercontinental. But there was one person the returning soldier was hoping to get to know - his daughter.
"Spend some time with my family especially with my daughter because as you can see she has not recognized me at all," said Virach Inson.
His wife, Kakada Inson greeted her husband with hugs, kisses, and flowers, while friends waved American flags.
Now that he is back home his wife said she doesn't have to check her email to see if he is okay.
The couple will spend a few days in Houston with family before heading to Hawaii. Inson will finish his service with the U.S. Army on the island.

its was the vietnam war, then usa bombing in cambodia that brought the khmer rouge. plus iraq war is an unjust war.

Without Khmer Rouge, some of you in the US still live some where in the deep Cambodia jungle or under Vietnam.
You were enlisted and trained how to fight the battle (not war), and they never told you "why" you have to fight. In fact, you're enlisted low-raking soldiers--you only need to know-basis. Further, remember that the enemy combatants you're combating with are not really your enemy; however, the real ENEMY are the people who sent you to fight the enemy combatants.
Perhaps in the near future, use your GI bill(benefit) to further your education and expatiate your thinking, so you cannot be ordered around.

At least he serves for the best of the military in the world, not under Ah Hun Sen. Ah Hun Sen doesn't care his own people and his army. If one serves under RCAF, it's like serving the death camp. America is trying to protect and promote democracy.

What you don't know is that Virak is a Major in the Army and his brother is a college grad and hold a respectable career. Instead of being negative about people, you need to look within yourself to see what is wrong with you.
Mr. idiot PPU, did you know that in order to obtain a rank as a Major in the US military you must have at least a Master Degree? Unlike Xun Xen's government that you only have to suck Youn's dick to clime up rank okay. Therefore, you need to stop barking for your YOUN master. mr. ppu. i saw khmer soldiers at Preah Vihea wore flip flop. they are skinny. they look like they were not properly fed. even the thai soldiers wear proper clothe than the cambodian soldiers. cambodian soldier did not receive their salary on time. their family are suffering. who is in charge all these? where is the budget to support these soldiers?.

Remember this and remember it well: although we (Cambodian soliders)do not have modern weapons in arsenals, as opposed to the Americans or Thais, rest assured, however, the Cambodian solidiers are more modern (not conventional)than the American or Thai soldiers. In other words, the American and Thai soldiers are using their modern weapons with conventional soldiers--not Cambodians.
Until then, train hard, and fight smart.
