Please join the National Democratic Institute and the International Republican Institute for a discussion and analysis of recent political developments, trends in the Cambodian government’s policies, and future opportunities for the country’s opposition parties.
Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha are leaders of Cambodia’s opposition parties, the SRP and the HRP, and seek to present an alternative to the current ruling party, the Cambodian People’s Party. The CPP has dominated Cambodian politics for decades, recently winning 90 out of 123 seats in the national legislature in 2008.
The SRP and the HRP formed an alliance called the Democratic Movement of Change to contest the provincial, district, and municipal elections held in May 2009. The parties hope to strengthen their position in the 2012 national elections.
The party leaders are in Washington to meet with U.S. legislators and other members of the policy community to discuss the state of Cambodian politics, prospects for democratic political reform, and the defense of human rights. They are joined by Yem Ponhearith, Secretary General of the HRP.

Please if you both agree to do a good thing for the Country do it and don't fool our jati KHMERS like sdach. You both are reast KHMER and I hope your blodd not related to sdach Khmer trasak paem's blood. May be one or both of you related to our GREAT SDACH JAYAVARMAN 7 who know? Respect our lovely JATI KHMER and all Khmer who sneha JATI have value of life as two of you. Hope you understand without any confusion. GOOD LUCK.

Both of these guys just known how to talk never wanted Cambodia country growing up.If both of you want to be a president please do anything for khmer people.And let Khmer people voting for you and don't force them voting for you.All Khmer people inside and outside they are known who work for Khmer people and who don't work for Khmer people.

I don't mean to look down on you. I've tried to understand your post, but isn't that easy.
How can Cambodia become an advanced society in human history if her people like you still believe the Myth?
The difference between your kind of species and King Sihanouk is that you don't want to learn the truth, you want to stay stupid, whereas the King sacrificed himself to shield his people and took all the blames.
It's never easy to be a father with no army and has to protect children from Communists while home's under attack.
Have you ever picked up some papers from US State Department or Pentagon to read instead of listening to propaganda stories.
Yes Jayavaraman 7 was great but his children or son who became King was rotten the same. Wasn't Khmer Empire declined when his son came to power? Did his son have Trasak Ph'em blood? And what type of Blood that Trasak Ph'em had?
Did Jayavaraman 8 (not 7) persecute Khmer Buddhists and change all Buddhist temple to Hindu? Did he bow to Ku Blai Khan and clean up the national bank for Ku Blai Khan? Do you know in order to become wealthy like Khmer Empire Khmers posessed gold and gems and other trade? But when the Varaman Kings made the wrong moved, what happend next? 600 years later we are all still sufferings and poor.
Who freed Cambodia from Siam and Youn and got two big provinces back? Wasn't King Ang Doung?
Almost every Khmer believe that Varaman were great, but Kublai Khan shut up their mouths.

I wish their union will win the future election and be given a chance to improve the livelihood of Cambodians. I have always donated to their cause, unlike the poster 2:53. Nothing is free and it is the money that can help these two leaders go forward. Ah Hun Sen has complete access to all the resources so stop criticizing these leaders for asking for donations from people who care for Cambodia. What about Obama? He is like the biggest beggar alive. During his campaign for presidency of the United States, every member of the democratic party was asked to donated as small as a hundred dollar. So what do you have to say to that? I have seen people donated to the Sam Rainsy Party as small as 5 dollars. All contributions are appreciated and a little goes a long way against the hurdles set up by ah Hun Sen. So if you are not interested, then just shut the f*ck up.

Me too not long ago I was told that all Varaman Kings were great and Jayavaraman King was great. Until later on I learned that Varaman 7 was the only one the greatest while the rest of Varaman Kings were fucking with all topless girls in front of them.
Who was the Jayavaraman that emptied the country to ground ZERO? It was Jayavaraman 8. Imagine how much gold he sent to feed Kublai Khan army every year?
Where the hect that guy Jayavaraman 8 came from anyway to claim the Khmer throne as his then he wiped out the entitle country killed all Khmer Buddhists running for their lives to join Siam.

Trasak Ph'em inherited the bankrupt nation from Jayavaraman 8, and how are they supposed to believe any King or leader could have won the war if they're poor?

I come to think that King Jayavaraman 8 was not different than Pol Pot. I have tried to search about him or who was he and where was he coming from, I can't find anything. He was not the great King Jayavaraman 7's son and he was a tyrant. Not only he led the country to bankrupt he persecuted all Buddhists and he changed all Buddhist Temples to Hindu. If I were him I'd allow the people to practice Budhism and Hindu as they wished to. His policies were destroying the whole empire.
We became poor because all trasure sent to feed the Mongolian army and the escapes from being persecuted helped Siam to gain their access to preserve our Khmer culture.
Jayavaraman 8 should be brought to trial of war crime, the way he did.
We can at least put his name to trial.
