In the morning of 26 June 2009, the judge of the Phnom Penh municipal court held a hearing to announce the sentence handed to Hang Chakra, the editor-in-chief of the Khmer Machas Srok newspaper. Hang Chakra was sentenced to 1 year of prison sentence and he must pay 9 million riels ($2,250) in fine. The judge ordered the police to immediately arrest Hang Chakra as stipulated in Article 353 of the new criminal law.
The decision was made based on the lawsuit brought up by the government which accuses Hang Chakra of disinformation, incitation and dishonoring public officials. Suong Chan Thorn was the government lawyer who brought up this lawsuit.

hang chakra was wrong that he wrote officials around sok an were corrupted. i think sok an himself is the corruptors. that is why people around him are corrupted. how much asset does sok an have right now? how much is his salary since he starts his position? how many member of family he has to support? if hang chakra goes to jail for one year for just writing i bet those corruptors will go to hell for life.

Hun Sen regime is not different from KR. His goal is to privatize Cambodia and sell it to Vietnam at the end. Starting from recent lifting opposition immunity to sentencing of Hang Chakra benefit nothing to the nation, but to silence all those critics and defame Cambodia in the world stage.
