"...even if you (Thailand) have the atomic bomb, Cambodians will not be scared!": Cambodia's Strongman Hun Xen

Cambodia is ready to oppose Thailand’s aggression … even the A-bomb, we’re not scared of –sic! –

Hun Xen issued a new stern warning to the Thai aggression troops for its aggression on Cambodia, and Cambodia will use arms to fight back even though Thailand is equipped with modern armaments and atomic bombs. In a speech in Pursat province in the morning of 22 August that was televised and broadcasted on many local TV and radio stations, Hun Xen warned: “If you negotiate, we will negotiate. If you come in [i.e. aggress Cambodia], we must hit back, you [Thailand] don’t have a head covered with steel! Let’s make it clear, Cambodia does not want to fight with anybody, but if someone hits us, don’t be surprised, even if you have the atomic bomb, Cambodians will not be scared!

Hun Xen made such a stern public warning once already when Cambodia was transporting heavy armaments to equip troops in the frontline of Preah Vihear temple area last month, and after the tense Cambodian-Thai exchange following the courteous visit of Thai PM Abhisit Vejjajiva to Cambodia.

In spite of his stern warning, Hun Xen claimed that “there is no fighting in the border.”

Currently, Hun Xen ordered Battalion No. 11, which is stationed in Phnom Trop, to return back to its base in Kampot province. Battalion No. 11 which is under the command of General Keo Pong had build a stair way in Phnom Trop, as well as a motorized cable transportation system along the mountain slope to facilitate trips and equipment transports on the steep mountain slope.

Furthermore, troop units from Siem Reap and Kampong Thom provinces were also ordered to pull back as well. At the same time, Hun Xen’s private bodyguards led by General Hing Bun Heang were also ordered cut down by half at the frontline, the recalled bodyguards are ordered to come back to their former base. On this topic, Hun Xen said: “Sending too many of them to the front is not very good, let’s leave some of them to help plant crops for the people during this rainy season.”

Even though Cambodian troops were ordered to return to their bases, Hun Xen indicated that: “If there’s something, we go right away, it won’t take too long. But, I hope that there will be no fighting.

General Srey Doek, commander of Battalion No. 3 based in Preah Vihear, let it be known over the phone in the afternoon of 22 August that the situation along the Cambodian-Thai border, in particular at the Preah Vihear temple area, has no problem. As for any armed aggression [against Cambodia by Thai troops], Cambodian troops will automatically fight back as it is Cambodia’s rights to defend itself and to defend its territorial integrity in this area, just as Hun Xen said, Srey Doek claimed.

Srey Doek indicated also that: “What we have done is to prevent any aggression like what took place in the past, even for concrete fences and barbed wires, we told Thailand to remove them out. We don’t allow them to do anything they want.” Srey Doek added that the pullback of intervention forces in a number of zones to their original bases was done to help people plant crop during the rainy season. At the frontline, there is no shortage of force because the transportation of troops can be done very quickly because Cambodia has better roads now.

In spite of the border dispute with Thailand, especially near the Preah Vihear temple, the current border situation has improved. Furthermore, on 24 August 2009, Thai General Songkitti Jaggabatra will travel to Cambodia to talk with General Pol Saroeun, the Cambodian army chief of staff. The Thai general will also visit Angkor Wat, Cambodia’s jewel. However, it is not yet known whether during his visit, the Thai general will raise the issue of Preah Vihear temple and its troops pullback or not.

On 22 August, General Chhum Socheat, spokesman of the Cambodian ministry of Defense, could not be reached over the phone to obtain his comments on the nature of the Thai general’s visit.

The Cambodian-Thai border situation is getting more tense after Cambodia listed Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage site, during UNESCO’s meeting in Quebec, Canada on 07 July 2008. One week after the listing of the temple, on 15 July 2008, Thai troops invaded Cambodian territory near Preah Vihear temple.

During the one-year aggression by Thailand, Cambodia and Thailand had two major armed clashes: once on 15 October 2008, and the second time on 03 April 2009. During the clashes, a number of Thai aggression troops died, and Cambodia also faced a number of losses, including the burning down of the market located at the bottom of the staircase leading to Preah Vihear temple. In the aftermath of this clash, 319 Cambodian families who were trading in this market had to be evacuated to Sa’em, Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province.

Some flee riverbank erosion

The new construction site of a house in Koh Nirouth falls Thursday into the lower Mekong River.

AUTHORITIES in Nirouth commune have called on families in Koh Nirouth village to vacate their homes on the Tonle Bassac and lower Mekong riverbanks in response to rapid erosion due to flooding.

But the families of several high-ranking officials who live in the village have vowed to stay in their homes and have asked the government to help them stave off further erosion.

"Almost every day, strips of land 2 metres wide and 200 metres long are falling into the water," said commune chief Sam Phon, forcing poor families away from the riverbank.

Nhek Chhon, the Koh Nirouth village chief, said the poor families had moved to new homes in the centre of the village, adding that some had already sold their riverfront land to wealthier families.

He said some of the wealthy families' homes were also in danger of falling into the river.

Nhek Chhon suggested that the rich families were being tightfisted by asking for state assistance. "I think that they are worried about their second
homes collapsing into the water, but they don't want to pay their own money," he said.

But Sam Phon said local authorities did not have the funds to construct a barrier.

"We can stop the riverbank collapsing if we build the brick barrier to protect the homes from the current, but now we have no money to construct it," he said.

Thailand: Again, should war erupts, please confer with google map for the inaccuracy of the coordinate for the Tuol Krasaing compound--this is where the most elite troops and modern weapons are based--to avoid collateral damage.

Further, there are numerous bunkers in the compound, and therefore it's very important that you need to use the US-made
GPS "bunker buster" bombs.

Hun Sen is just wanting to show that he is the most powerful man inside the CPP...like he can order and move around heads of those military leaders...

Yes, our online comments made Hun Sen changed from fighting with Mu Sochua and also Hun Sen listened Sochua's comments that military should pay attention to foreign aggression rather than fighting with gunless SRP.

Hun Sen might step forward to intimidate his internal rivals more...

Let see..

Hun Sen is a good fighter, but because of the power he have no choice give up the country and give it's to Youn government.

Hun government should understand, they need to stop fighting with their own people and reorganize the country over against. Youn never give any benifit back to Cambodia only they try to take the Land.

Every where in Cambodia, all the business Youn's the onlyone have the power and to demanding Khmer government do what they have been told by Youn.

If our people stand up together not thing can change or taking away from us, Khmer people are very smart, but the Leader go to the wrong way, should we stand up to protect our country or we just critic each other and let the Youn take the control.

We need to stand up for our Freedom, Freedom of Right and Freedom of Speech.

God will lift up the humble and strike down the haughty pride.

For the sake of leading your people, should Hun Sen please humble yourself before God and ask him to help you to stop from straying away in the destructive path and repent and walk in God's path so He will be with you in your service to your people you suppose to lead.

Why didn't Cambodian Government ask UN for help solving the boarder issue.

A war with Thailand could be one of the most stupid decisions in current Khmer's history. If war broke out, Vietnamese troops would move across Khmer’s land to help Khmer waging war with Thailand. Then, Thailand and Vietnam would happily share the last Khmer land. At last, Khmer would become Mon and Cham.

Anonymous said...

That's dumb! Vietnamese troops are all over where there is a poosible war between Khmer and Thai. Thailand won't come to fight in Cambodia. If Thailand dares, it would do it since Vietnam invaded Cambodia in late 1978, so Thailand can split 50/50. Thailand can only curb the Yuons troops from entering their territory.

Anonymous said...

It could be true cause HUN SEN is thinking to retake some of our provinces back. Under YOUN's advising, HUN SEN is requesting YOUN to help him retake our Khmer's provinces by letting YOUN be friend with CPP.

Thailand is smart enough that they don't war with Cambodia. Because they will lose the war and lose the provinces. This below ambitious is always with every Cambodian's leader or generals.

Here are the last 7 Khmer Provinces that Thai has controlled recently and need to give back to Cambodia once day in the future, These Provinces are already claimed by General Lon Nol in 1974, and after the statistic in 1974, there have 14 millions khmer people in Thailand, there have now around 30 millions Khmer People today live in Thailand,

These are the last 7 Khmer Provinces that Thai has been took recently :
1/ Surin (call Khmer Soren)
2/ Buriram (or Boreiram)
3/ Srah Keo (or Sah Keo)
4/ Sisaket (or Sri Saket)
5/ Chanthaburi
6/ Trat
7/ Ubon Ratchathani

And others Khmer Provinces need to give back also to Cambodia that Thai has been pick up from Cambodia in year 1833 during Khmer King Ang Chan II in that period khmer has been lost the war again Thai and Annam,

32/ Nakhon Ratchasima
40/ Prachin Buri
44/ Chachoengsao
45/ Chon Buri

At 1904 and 1907, Thai has agreed to give back to Cambodia only 4 Provinces :
1/ Siem Reap,
2/ Battambang,
3/ Svay Sisophon,
4/ Posat
These provinces has been back officially to Cambodia in 1947 in the Cambodia Map during The King Sihanouk Government.

ACID ATTACK ON TAT MARINA
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed acid attack.
"On December 5, 1999, Tat Marina, age 16, was severely disfigured in an acid attack in Phnom Penh. The attack was allegedly committed by Khun Sophal, the wife of a senior government official, Svay Sitha, because she was angry her husband had a sexual relationship with Tat Marina. Neither Khun Sophal nor those suspected of being her accomplices in the attack were brought to justice. Intense media publicity compelled the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Khun Sophal for attempted murder, but the police claimed that they could not locate her, although journalists reported that she was living at home as usual."

TORTURE AND MURDER ON PRAK SITHA WHILE IN CUSTODY BY MISNISTRY OF INTERIOR OFFICIAL
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed torture and murder.
"On the night of January 16, 2003, a street youth named Prak Sitha was beaten to death at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) headquarters after he was arrested and detained by off-duty MOI officers on suspicion of theft. His body - bearing numerous injuries to the head, torso, arms, and legs - was dumped at a Phnom Penh pagoda the following morning by ministry officers, in violation of police regulations regarding deaths in custody. No criminal charges were filed in connection with this death. In December 2004, the case was cited by the UN secretary-general's special representative for human rights in Cambodia - who stated that Prak Sitha died at the ministry "following beatings by a known police officer" - as an example of a "consistent and continuing pattern of impunity" in Cambodia."

Hun Sen claims just like his boss, Pol Pot. Pol said that (during the war with Vietname in 1979) each Khmer was assigned to kill 60 vietnamese while Hun said each of his fighter can kill 5 Thai soldiers very easily. In reality, it took the vietnamese only two weeks to conquer the whole Cambodia. Khmer leaders (Sihanouk, Lon Nol, Pol Pot, Hun Sen) have tendency of over confidence in themselves by underestimating the enemy and this is why khmer land is decimated from Khmer empire up to present size. Until this present and future khmers leaders wake up, stop underestimate the enemies, and put the interest of the country above theirs, soon Cambodia will not exist in the world map any longer.

Folks, don't forget that , currently, there are a lot of movement in Burma (shipment from North Korea) that keeps the CIA running 24 hours around the clock. Also, remember that Hun Sen is a good friend of a general of Burma, which also makes the Thai feeling uneasy.

Further, there are plenty of fuel (from Burma)that are fueling the Thai and US F-16s. Therefore, don't make the general pissed, because the US and Thailand do not want their fuel supply cut in the middle of war--that would be a bad thing.

As of today, it appears as if the Burma is going nuclear--with the blessing from North Korea.

What Hun Sen said is not worth listening. He uses TV, Radios which he controls to attack anybody who has different views. This is a one way communication which the sole purpose for him is to not allow the people he verbally attacked to verbally response. This is why during my visit to Cambodia in 2005, for peaceful mind, I did not watcht TV nor did I read the newspapers. I know for fact that those junks belong to Hun Sen and every single word that came out from those junks have Hun Sen's name on it. The same hold true for almost all public schools in Cambodia: 90% of public schools named after Hun Sen.

Chinese old-saying: "One does not shed the tears until one sees the grave". Hun Sen should be led to visit Hiroshima, Japan to see the effect of Nuclear bomb that was dropped by the Aemrican in 1945. The bomb was designed six decade ago and the effectiveness of the bomb was way less severe than today's bomb. In fact, Hun Sen should remember the effect of B-52 bomber during the 1970-75 war. I bet Hun Sen will be cried wolf once he experience himself in this situation.

Some people just never learn lesson from the past: underestimate the enemy. Just like Sihanouk in 1969. Afraid that American was going to attack him he placed one single anti aircraft gun left over from world war 2 to guard his palace. Pol Pot on the other hand waged war with Vietnam in 1978-79 to take Kampuchea Krom back. With smart move, Vietnamese army withdrew from those border provinces which led Pol Pot to believe that Vietnamese was afraid of his fighters. Vietnam let Pol Pot's fighters slaughtered Cambodian ethnics in Kampuchea krom at will. Once Pol Pot fighters withdrews under pressure from Vietnamese army, the latter led all news people to witness the atrocities committed by Pol's army. A couple of weeks later vietnam invaded Cambodia claiming self-defense.

Now Khmers is about to fall to Vietnam's trap again. By Hun Sen provokes Thai, possibly at Vietnamese insistance, war will likely break out. If we use Pol Pot logic we will think that poor equipped 14 million khmer people can win over 60 million well equipped Thai. In reality, this is not easy as 1-2-3 and who will benefit from the war between Khmer and Thai: Vietnam. For Khmers who are in favor of the war with Thailand has dirty mindset in mind.
