A new round of barbs opened between an opposition lawmaker and Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday, with the Sam Rainsy Party’s Mu Sochua cautioning the premier to curb rhetoric about a crackdown on the opposition.
On Wednesday, Hun Sen responded to critics of the government by saying he had the power to eliminate the opposition through force in only two hours but hadn’t.
“I as the prime minister use the court of law, and it is the same as the armed forces if it is not allowed,” Hun Sen told a forum in Phnom Penh. “Is it the rifles or what? I only need two hours to take over all of Phnom Penh. If you want to try, from this hour, I only need two hours, not longer than that, to grab you all.”
Mu Sochua, who is in the US, told VOA Khmer Thursday she was “horrified” by the comments.
“I think that such language should not be used at all, especially by a leader,” she said.
Mu Sochua was fined earlier this month in a suit brought by Hun Sen after she charged he had defamed her in a derogatory speech in April.
She has said she will appeal the decision, which spot-lighted alleged political bias in the courts.
The government and the courts have come under increased scrutiny lately, following a rash of court cases against opposition lawmakers, journalists and rights workers that critics say could mark a crackdown on government dissent.

This is about an absolute power that can be exercised by the Prime Minister to silence all the critics even though this exercise of power has no legal basis. Remember that 22 generals have sued Mr. Ho Vann so we can say that most or all of the generals are with the Prime Minister.
In Cambodia not many people care about what is right and what is wrong. Money is what most people care about so Mu Sochua can be shot dead or put in jail and there will be no serious public outcry against it and the rest of the world will shout a little bit and then the next day there will be business as usual with the royal government of Cambodia.
The police and army of Cambodia under any Khmer regime are very good at being used to suppress the freedom of Cambodians and to protect the government of the day, they tend to be really useless when it comes defending the country's territorial integrity.
King father and the current King are smart enough to be quiet and only have praises for the government of Prime Minister Hun Sen. Only time can tell if their silence is a wisdom or a curse on the future of the monarchy in Cambodia.

Disgrace Mu Sochua’s problem all along, is that she is trying to be a politician. She's not, never has been and quite obviously, never will be. She should have just been herself, provide alternative policies and show Khmer people what a great alternative MP opposition she would be. Instead, her foray into being a politician has been a disaster. She comes across as pretending to be something she's not. Now, her political career is on the line and herself also in the hot water.
While the nation is facing complex economic, social and environmental issues disgrace Mu Sochua tried to promote her political stunt, aimed to get media attention. If this wasn’t such a clear demonstration of her selfish pursuit of personal ambition it would be laughable. There is no doubt that Mu Sochua has no real regard for the best interest of the nation. She is driven solely by a desire to become a “Champion of Women or new Aung San Suu Kyi” by any means available to her, even if that has the potential to destabilize the country. Even worse she now says that she will appeal her case against Prime Minister Hun Sen to the Appeal court following the announcement of her guilty verdict by the Phnom Penh municipal Court.
People of integrity admit their faults, make amends and are judged fairly...Disgrace Mu Sochua is lacking in integrity and common sense and tries to change Cambodia into her own world. As long as Cambodia’s Court doesn’t issue any verdict which is fitted for her political stunt, she will scream for the justice all day long.

Mu Sochua, by now you should be smart enough to know that the chance of winning the case through an appeal is very slim as Hun Sen controls everything including the court systems. What you are saying is right relative to circumstantial relevences, either wasting time or possibly loosing her wish to changing some aspects or political changes,if I may say, to cambodia.
However,what cambodia has faced with so many negative factors.
1) internal management or ruling needs to be improved for better outcomes or benefits to majority of cambodians.
2)reduce influence of neighbors for cambodia independency.
3)Illegal immigration which has dramatic impact on cambodia infrastructure and society, subsequently driving cambodians to neighboring countries.This led to many abuses to cambodians.
4)Abusing judicial system is imposing potential risk and add to shaky safety and socurity of cambodians.
5)Effective laws enforcement of appropriate measures is to be addressed.this leads to both, safety of cambodians and help the investments for more jobs which improve standard of living of cambodians.
6)Corruption will lead to the collapse of our whole society, economically as well as social fabrics of cambodia.
Every concerns or applied measures are relative to time. Time is so critical to any goals whish to achieve. Graph of action relative to time can be plotted, to assess for the efficiency.That can indicate the result of any management, whether for firm or political management.
so there are a lot to weigh for the positive balance that Mu Sochua has to risk for.
Regardless, reform based on principles of human rights and Ethics are the guides of improving professionalism.
The bottom line is that opposition strategy is used to reflect of applied strategy by the govt.
First and foremost, we have to eliminate our old concept that power belonged to any individual, but public trust that we should not manipulte and betray that.

Most of us speaking out of frustration over concerns of our living cambodians and future of cambodia.
Many cambodians both inside and abroad have learnt about the arrogant and abusive practices of the govt towards cambodians who raised any issues affected them or likely affected the society.
Admitting and accepted what unproductive(wrongs) is working towards getting thing right.
Security and safety to cambodians are the demoratic process.
Change is needed. Many NGOs and social societies are the best to collabrate for desirable outcomes of management, the opposition is used for addressing,analysing daily issues arise, for the merit and also reflection of implementations. These organisations are the important stakeholders of our society because they are the collective groups.And national constitution is the golden key to unlock the miseries that khmer have faced.
Corruption laws is impreative as well as royal commission to oversee
the laws are fully implemented.
It is a call for human resources with abilities and Ethics to make a change. Morality and Ethics that what we lack of, these are also part of curriculum of our education in secondary and tertiary.
Those oversea cambodians have to be cautious in actually commit in working in cambodia due to the bad record and insecurity. And many have worked in cambodia, not by greed but for the good cause.
I,once was in your position, commited myself for the revolution and nearly lost my life.
