Cambodia must wait half a century?

Still waiting for a political change in Cambodia ... because: ex-King Sihanouk said that people wishes him to live more 1,000-year-old, and PM Hun Xen said that he wants to hold onto power until he is at least 90-year-old

The Japanese people recently welcome a new prime minister who is issued from the Japanese opposition party which won a landslide election at the beginning of this week. It is a fact that, in Japan, the change of premiership is not a big deal, and for someone to become the prime minister is also not a big deal in Japan. However, what impressed the world was the turning of new chapter in Japan when the opposition party won the election and the premiership position after more than half a century long delay.

Turning back to Cambodia, the situation here is not that much different. In Cambodia, besides the same political party winning the election time after time, the [government] leadership also remains unchanged: always the same man (sic!). Up to now, under four consecutive mandates, the ruling party in Cambodia is still holding its grip on power here. Come to think of it, four mandates is equivalent to a full 20-year of ruling, [and it seems] that this tendency will continue on for several more years to come.

As for the opposition party in Cambodia, questions remain as to whether it has the strength or the ability to replace the current ruling party or not? The path is still very long for Cambodia’s opposition, it could be that it may disappear even before it has the chance to rule (sic!).

This is not normal: it will require another 30 years or 6 legislative mandates to achieve a half-century length! Even though we cannot predict the future, what is foreseeable is that there is no clear sign showing that it would take a shorter period of time for Cambodia’s opposition party to get a grip on power. In fact, in Cambodia, change of leadership or premiership is a strange event (sic!)!

For Cambodia, can we assume that we need to wait for 50 years, or rather that we have to wait, wait, wait, and still waiting?

Note: In Cambodia, one legislative mandate lasts 5 years.

i heard opposition don't like the current gov't. i also heard the current gov't don't like opposition because they too always have the same opposing people. it goes both ways, i guess. where are the younger, more outgoing, more energetic, more educated and open-minded people for cambodia? to be fair, maybe both parties should step aside and let fresh, young generation of leaders take over for a change for the sake of cambodia. wake up people. remember to live by the philosophy that says: treat others the way you would want to be treated because karma will not reconcile with you. by the way, karma is god's way to teaching and punishing people. wake up, cambodia!

sometimes, only old age will end all oppressor, etc... nobody can live forever, you know. if this is an acception, then, i'm sure cambodia will be well-known and people would seek to learn the secret behind longevity. we'll see! god bless cambodia.

never heard anybody can live up to 150 years, let alone 1000 years! it's called wishful thinking. maybe they meant a legacy or relics and a nation will live that long and more, but a person? it's questionable, to say the least! god bless cambodia.

Hun Sen will die of cancer because he is a smoker. Also both he and his wife are criminals so the sky will punish them no matter how much power they have now.

6:06 AM,
You are preaching against Lord Buddha.

Good people will not be reincarnated, they ended their duties on earth and they will be in heaven like Buddha. Only bad or people who have Bab will be reincarnated to fulfil their duties.

The author of this article mislead us reader.
The people who wish King Sihanouk to live longe ris not the same as the people do not wish PM Hun Sen to be PM until he will be 90 years old.

People wish for the King vs. PM Hun Sen wishes for himself.

One time Hun Sen said:you expect me to change and how about you.You hold a party leadership for so long and eventhough your party name you afraid to change too.SRP need to reorganize or regroup with the other party to show the people that you are changing to the better. If we compare to a football coach, when your team lost all the game, the coach is no excused and have to remove.Coach can't point the finger to the players. It does't matter snow or rain, you have to train them how to deal with the situation. It's the samething with the politic, you can't blame the people, the opposition or NEC.This is name of the game. You want to play or not. You can look all the opportunity or tactic to win the game.I mean win but not increase 2 or 3 seats as winner.

You can mark my words (from this day forward):It will be sooner than you think; someone alreqdy has the blueprint. The good news is: we DO NOT have to wait that long (as others purportedly claimed); the time frame is rather exaggerated.

With all due respect, read my (above) comment, and don't forget to mark your calendar.

Again, you'll be surprised that the time frame is rather sooner than you (and others) think. Of course, you--again--can mark my words.
