PHNOM PENH — Cambodian premier Hun Sen on Monday renewed strong warnings his country could be plunged back into civil war if the UN-backed Khmer Rouge court tried more suspects from the late 1970s movement.
Hun Sen, himself a former low level commander in the communist regime, made his speech less than a week after the court said it could open investigations against more members of the government which killed up to two million people.
"If you tried (more suspects) without taking national unification and peace into consideration and if war re-occurred, killing between 200,000 and 300,000 people more, who would be responsible for it?" the premier told a ceremony.
"I have achieved this work (peace), I will not allow anybody to destroy it.... The value of peace here is very big," Hun Sen said, lamenting that Cambodia had already been drenched "by blood and tears".
"So anybody, please don't cause more trouble," he added.
The prime minister in a speech in March made similar assertions that further prosecutions at the Khmer Rouge court could destabilise Cambodia, saying that he would prefer the court failed than indict more suspects.
But critics have said there is no risk of renewed fighting since the country's civil war ended in 1998, and have accused the administration of trying to protect former regime members now in government.
The tribunal was created in 2006 to try leading members of the 1975-1979 regime and five former leaders are currently being held on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The court's long-awaited first trial of Kaing Guek Eav, better known by the alias Duch, is under way and he has accepted responsibility for overseeing the execution of more than 15,000 people at the regime's main prison.
After Duch's trial, the court plans to prosecute former Khmer Rouge ideologue Nuon Chea, head of state Khieu Samphan, foreign minister Ieng Sary and his wife, minister of social affairs Ieng Thirith.
Led by Pol Pot, who died in 1998, the Khmer Rouge emptied Cambodia's cities in a bid to forge an agrarian utopia, resulting in the deaths of up to two million people from starvation, overwork and torture.

Well, Mr. Hun Sen himself afraid to face trial and the truth...
There's no justice for cambodian people at all! if more suspects still out there living freely and enjoyed driving lexus, luxury villa...
I think Premier Hun Sen and all the names listed by Petit should testify and let's get over it. And be sure the UN has to provide its troop to protect the witnesses, before the Viet squads may snatch and slash them with guillotines of Om Areak Preay. He recommanded of using it.
One is missing is Ho Chi Minh (the Angka Leu), but Pham Van Dong is still alive, he too has to testify after Hor Nam Hong (the supreme agent of Angka Leu).
If King Sihanouk takes the stand, then Mao Tseng Tung has to testify, and since he is dead, may be someone who is still alive can come forward. It is no big deal, if the world want to know that the Vietnamese're all behind the genocide.
After KRT we need another trial for the US bombing on Cambodia. Thousand and thousand of bombs dropped on Cambodia and killed too many Khmers.
Where was the Human Right? Where were the UN and US? Where was the World compassion? Where was God? Where were you when we need you during the KR regime? I was there and watched the innocent Cambodian dying. I had only the questions without answers. How come the UN, US just show after the Vietnamese invaded and liberated the Cambodians from the bloody hand of Khmer Rouge?? Until now I still can not get the right answers!!!

ACID ATTACK ON TAT MARINA
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed acid attack.
"On December 5, 1999, Tat Marina, age 16, was severely disfigured in an acid attack in Phnom Penh. The attack was allegedly committed by Khun Sophal, the wife of a senior government official, Svay Sitha, because she was angry her husband had a sexual relationship with Tat Marina. Neither Khun Sophal nor those suspected of being her accomplices in the attack were brought to justice. Intense media publicity compelled the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Khun Sophal for attempted murder, but the police claimed that they could not locate her, although journalists reported that she was living at home as usual."

TORTURE AND MURDER ON PRAK SITHA WHILE IN CUSTODY BY MISNISTRY OF INTERIOR OFFICIAL
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed torture and murder.
"On the night of January 16, 2003, a street youth named Prak Sitha was beaten to death at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) headquarters after he was arrested and detained by off-duty MOI officers on suspicion of theft. His body - bearing numerous injuries to the head, torso, arms, and legs - was dumped at a Phnom Penh pagoda the following morning by ministry officers, in violation of police regulations regarding deaths in custody. No criminal charges were filed in connection with this death. In December 2004, the case was cited by the UN secretary-general's special representative for human rights in Cambodia - who stated that Prak Sitha died at the ministry "following beatings by a known police officer" - as an example of a "consistent and continuing pattern of impunity" in Cambodia."

This KRT is indirectly backed by the US & Vietnam on the same strategies. The UN, Canadian and Australian judges work for the US.
This KRT is to put pressure on Hun Sen (Moyen de chantage) not to get closed to China.
These great strategies by China who controls water are powerful that is why the US is nervous for losing SEA region to China.
King Sihanouk was taken to China is to avoid the assassination by the Vietnamese.
I think Cambodia should handle this so sentitive matter very careful, because Cambodia needs both China and US.
Here are my suggestions:
Hun Sen should make a deal with the US that Vietnamese must completely withdraw from Cambodia and must respect Cambodia's territory.
I said before that the Vietnamese have many strategies to kill their enemies. They would have the photos and the tapes of every conversations of Hun Sen, then they will use them to stab him, but Hun Sen still can make a deal with the US.
Dear Poster 1.09AM,
I don't expect to use guilllotine to cut off the neck of those Khmer rouge criminals at all.
I hope you have already followed closely with Khmer Tribunal and many other Khmer Rouge victims wishes. We need only to know who was behind the killings of three millions of Cambodian between 1975-1979? We wanted these criminals to come foward to tell us why they have kill their own citizen?
If we want Cambodia to move forward, we need a good justice so that Cambodia can be recognised a civilised Nation. A Nation without justice is no different to a farm of wild animals at all. At present, even animals such as monky and apes, tigers, Lions and all wild dogs, they have also discipline in their own group too to survive. The Criminals of Khmer rouge were no different to animals at all. Why you need to protect them even we do not want to revenge on them? We just want to know the true story !!!
You must understand that between 1975-1979, they have killed 3 millions of our citizens in all our forests ( Prey). And the spirit those victims cannot rest in peace yet. They have also become Areak in every Prey we got.
Areak Prey
Pong Kh'dor Ah Hun Khvang Ma Khack1
Only you who will create a new civil war to save your skin. You're a really murderer of khmer people worked alongside N.Sihanouk and Pol Pot.
And you're the traitor of KHmer as a Race and as a Nation, and facilitate the Vietnamisation of Cambodia.
So all Khmers will be Vietnamese slaves in their ancestors' lands.
3;54am
do you mean the vietnamese sleeping army like hor nam hong weren't in cambodia?
No war break out only if he declare war!
Now we have more wars.
US fights China using Cambodia as their pawn.
Vietnam fights China for helping Cambodia using Cambodia as a pawn.
Now US fights with Hun Sen for going closed to China using KRT as a pretext.
and another secret war; Viets attemp to kill Sihanouk.
Will Hun Sen ask the US to force its allies Vietnamese to respect Cambodia's territory? Will he ask the US to do more or can he afford to abandon China who is now the super powerful nation and who controls all water?
Now Hun Sen receives the same burden as Sihanouk did in the past. Should Rainsy be Lon nol?
There will be no war; it is only a threat and propaganda of mr hun sen. he's a coward for say such meaningless comment.
Who in their right mind would believe this useless statement by mr hun sen.
4;27am
Did you read careful what is in 4;24am?
Cold war that's 4;24am wrote.
How come you so worship Youn? You keep saying Youn..Youn…..Vietnamese, Hanoi….Hanoi….all the time. Do you have anything to say except these words? Why don’t you get out and do something good for Cambodians. Don’t just sit there like a coward! Nothing good comes out from cursing. Perhaps you have mentally or speech disorder that is why you keep repeating and repeating the same words.
4;33am,
Because your Youn are the problems for 500 years in Cambodia.
there will be no war in cambodia because of the KRT. if the war will break out it will be between CPP themselves.
Hun Sen is scared to death right now that's why he is doing his best to keep himself and his comrade out of the KRT .
4:30AM ! You don't know what cold war means .
6;29am.
Sure I knew what cold war means.
In this case is political tensions between Cambodia (Hun Sen) and the US and China. China and US are indirectly fighting using Cambodia as a pretext.
In the past century revealed that
Vietcong, Vietming, Red Chinese, Soviet Union, East Bloc & U.S West Bloc fought the cold war.
Our leaders like Samdach SiNuk had been took side in early 1960 turning to Vietcong to kick yankee and ICC out of cambodia. So that Nuk could help Vietcong to transport red chinese weapons for Vietcong to fight cold war.
In lieu of stay neutral cambodia our leaders was so phony as good non aligned nation.
This was a cause of the creation LON NOL regime in March 1970. Lon Nol who was a close supporters, follower of Sihanouk until he was forced by many patriotic khmers to lead a salvation governement against vietcong he did not want it too because almost 40,000 Vetconcong already ocupied the Eastern side of Cambodia.
Prior creation his Govvernment Lon Nol was trying to send his delegate to beg SiNuk in Paris before Sinuk left for Pekin for him to come back to ask Viet go back to their country or risky war with Amerian & south Vietnam invasion to chase vietcong inside Cambodia due to SiNuk approval.
Please look back to the real cause of the problems in order to find a better solution for our country.
I am not Vitenam, no Chinese, neither American. I am Khmer
I love to be Khmer one day my nation will not be a lawless country or will be used by Foreigner national Interests anymore.
We can use their moneys for our Khmer National Interest Could we ?
9:12am,
You got something which is not quite truth what the strategies, but I got something I knew about. It is hard to post in the open forum.
Until then good bye
