THE Thai National Assembly on Wednesday approved solutions to technical and other issues surrounding border demarcation, paving the way for a resumption of the process of mapping the Cambodian-Thai border, a member of the Thai Democrat Party told the Post.
"A majority of parliamentarians approved the reports of the Cambodian-Thai Joint Boundary Commission this morning," said Kraisak Choonhavan, referring to the bilateral body that has met three times since November.
Var Kimhong, Cambodia's top border negotiator, said the minutes of the three meetings touched on issues such as how to demarcate the disputed area around Preah Vihear temple.
"There are many points that the Joint Boundary Commission agreed on, such as measuring major areas like Preah Vihear and other technical issues," Var Kimhong said.
Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Koy Kuong said the Cambodian government had received no official notification of the Thai National Assembly's vote, adding that he had only heard of it from Thai news reports.
"Now we can speed up the border-demarcation process," Koy Kuong said.
Kraisak also said he welcomed the news.
"I'm very much looking forward to putting the border issue behind us and returning to good relations," he said.
The two countries have never fully demarcated their 805-kilometre shared border.

everything has begin to go smoothly now that Thailand just recently loan billions of Bhat to Khmer government... you wonder what Cambodia is giving up for this deal?

Whatever Hun Sen and his gangs do with the nation lands/borders history will tell.
It is a joke how the CPPs conduct this affairs on their own, as though Cambodia only belongs the CPPs.
The Hun Sen regime never consult with the Cambodian borders experts and bring to a vote in Cambodia's Parliament and Senate. Thai government has done it and why not the Cambodian government???
The Hun Sen regime went and signed with the Vietcongs on borders demarcation, and they are doing the same with the Thais...NO CONSULTATION WITH THE KHMER CIVIL SOCIETY AND THE OTHER OPPOSITION PARTIES.
Signing away Khmer lands is serious matters, the Hun Sen government treat it as though it is a child play and for the benefits of his elite group. A small gain of a few CPPs elite but will be a permanent and major loss for Khmer Nation.

These two neighboring countries never lose an inch of their land to Cambodia becuse Cambodia never invades them. Their leaders are patriotic, while ours are not, and easy to be bought off if they are given power, as as the one oppressing the Khmer people today.

Now, we should wake up and identify who we are because individual or interest group who created this English website (KI media)in which almost information provided only in favor of oppositition party, but it is not so helpful to the public interest in terms of sensibility, creativity, contructivity, productivity, and neatral judgement. If u say that Cambodia is not a demoncratic country, u a 100% wrong.
By the way, if u say that the demoncracy in Cambodia is not fully applied or partially carried out, of course your idea or judgement is sensible and valuable. But, it is still acceptable because Cambodia case is not as the same as other countries cases, we need sometime to make change.
If were u, anyway, I may be very shame due to the fact that information provided is only attacked individual person that lead to conflict of interests (your own problem). My suggestion is that u should provide fair and neatral information that would help our country and people. Especially; foreigners shall not be able to look down our nation due to the fact that we a in unique unity. Why? Because it does not matter even we fight with each other. We attack just in the purpose of progress and future develpment of ow own nation. We should learn from the past experiece, we lost when we broke, we won when we united.
