Cambodia plans to boost defense and security spending by 23 percent next year, raising the prospect of a clash with the International Monetary Fund.

Budget figures show Cambodia plans to spend 274 million US dollars on defense and security next year, up from 223 million this year.

A government spokesman says the spending's unrelated to tensions with neighbouring Thailand over land surrounding the Preah Vihear temple.

The IMF criticised Cambodia last year for its military spending, leading the Cambodian government to cut back its defense budget.

pathetic dictator afraid of not being able to cause stability to Cambodia if lose power so he must build more bodyguards.

The Hun Sen don't have financial intelligence but they want to get rich.

They can't do like Thaksin through deals and shrewdness, so they do it by brute force and physical theft and violence and plunder!

Pathetic and stupid! You will never live up to the money, because you don't earn those money.

Donors:

You must CEASE all donations to Cambodia.

For some countries, for instance, we've taught them how to fish rather then giving them fish--and they have become self-sufficient; however, Cambodia , in this case, is too dumb and stupid to teach them how to fish. Therefore, let's not give them or teach them how to fish. Now, it's time to be sufficient; we don't want to babysit you anymore. Furthermore, if Cambodia can increase its defense expendicture, they don't need our donations.
