I am a Khmer and as patriotic as other Khmers are. As I said yesterday: I don't care much if some folks cuss me sometimes because my comments fail to please them. It's human nature that we are born to love, to be loved; to hate, to be hated,; to criticize, to be criticized.
Some folks think Hun Sen show off his force to surprise Thailand. That's wrong, big wrong and dumb. The purpose of showing off force is to tell the people and his opponents that he and his son are strong, having enough force to defeat those who would rise up to challenge his family. Khmer army is no match with Thailand. Don't dream about making war with Thailand.
And here is a little bit of Khmer nature I have observed so far:
Khmers are good at harming and hurting their own people. When it comes to fighting foreign enemies, they are not good. Take a good at the Khmer Rouge as an example. In short, if Khmer are good at fighting a war, Cambodia wouldn't have bee shrunk like it is today.

They looked tough! The Saddam Hussein Army brigade looked even tougher, but the Allies removed Saddam in less than 8hr.
Saddam Hun Sen's army, would probably take the UN allies to take them out in less than 8 seconds.
They look happy and victorious. What victory have they won? And they looks prosperous, while hundreds of Cambodian families are starving and homeless from land evictions.

Our army may not be able to defeat Thai army, but I can assure you that our army can wound Thailand so badly that their economy will be disrupted, and that their military victory tastes so sour and comes at a very high price.
Match or not match it doesn't matter. When it comes to play Khmer will resist all sort of harsh condition. Look at USA against IRAQ and Afghanistan (Taliban). Who is the most advantage? Plus it doesn't matter when it comes a guerilla warfare it is means the way.
Experiences were under estimate in Vietnam back in the 60's.

Cambodia is not a democratic country at all. No democratic country to have an elected leader to be a army at all. He must resign from all his public positions before he join politic. HIs son should be recruited by army academic and not by him. Therefore, Cambodia is a military rulers and the election was just a flaw to cheet international community only for aids.

Guerrilla Warfare is a form of warfare by which the strategically weaker side assumes the tactical offensive at places and times selected by it. History is witness to the fact that Guerrilla Warfare has never been resorted to by a militarily stronger side while mounting an offensive/attack. It is essentially the weapon of a strategically weaker side for tactical offensive at selected places and times.
Thus, Guerrilla Warfare is a phase of Warfare that cannot by itself attain complete victory. China, North Vietnam all started off as Guerrilla operations. But, once the opposing regular army was exhausted, the conventional methods of war were adopted, to gain total victory. This is what happened in Vietnam. The early stages of the guerrilla operations of the Viet Cong had towards the end turned into a full scale conventional war. No amount of Aerial bombing could alter the result.

He, himself, witness the crualty of the Khmer Rouge in 1975-79 and Khmer Serey at the Thai-Cambodian border in 1979 against their own khmer people. He explicity declared that if next life do really have he don't want to be born as Khmer again. I beginning to wish the same thing he did now.

It must be a joke to say that Vietnamese are kicking American ass in Vietnam war. If U.S. want to win the war badly it can just do like they did to Japan in World War 2 and the entire Vietnam would be wipe out. After the war ended, it was the Vietnamese who beg for relationship with the American and the same thing go to Cambodia. You make it sound like Khmer Rouge (KR) who always declared that in 2000 years history never before a small country like Cambodia could win war with America. In reality, the 1975 war was just war between the Viets, the KR and Lon Nol army. Hun Sen is not stronger than Saddam but Saddam's army was crumbling in two week's war with America and the same thing happened to general Noriega of Panama, and the same thing happened to Afghanistan.
