Border Post Incidence and One Reader's View

All party-task force (parliamentary group) should be set up to investigate and verify any alleged land encroachment on the Eastern front if the Cambodian authorities are adamant that such allegations are unfounded or cynically exploited for political capital making or, to create a second Preah Vihear in the East.

Just because there has been official silence from both sides regarding shifting border posts along the eastern border, this does not follow that there has been no instance of actual territorial offences occurring there. Indeed, if one is true to one's patriotic conscience as some figures within the CPP would proclaim themselves to be, one should be encouraged that some of our compatriots have gone to some length to be eyes and ears for our aggrieved farmers on the spot instead of preparing legal measures with which to silence their voice and ostracise their will.

It would be a great comfort to us all if it were to be the case as some of us secretly hope and as Hanoi and PP rhetoric tirelessly reinforces that the two 'fraternal' countries are bound together by mutual regard; that Cambodia's past territorial losses (constituting virtually half of present-day Vietnam)were mere legacies of past diplomacy; that VN has learned the hard way about what it means to be living under the yoke of Chinese and more recently European/American hegemony and that she has truly established her esteem and stature among civilised nations in the 21st century. Alas, this has not been supported by firm 'historical' evidence. If anything, the nation of Vietnam (which according to some writers literally means South-Bound) has long exhausted its course to the South and has begun, particularly, since the end of the 2nd Indochina War, to cast its voracious glance at its Western neighbours instead.

Some observers have viewed the absence of natural barriers along Cambodia's eastern frontier as rendering her ever more vulnerable to a State attuned in the art of piece-meal absorption of foreign domains and making them irreversibly its own. Thus, unlike mountainous Laos or the Dangrek Range on which sat the
sacred Khmer temple of Preah Vihea in the West, there is hardly a dung hill between Wat Phnom and Ho Chi Minh City.

If Cambodians are united before what really stands before them rather than what misguided minds and treacherous propaganda have allowed them to believe, all present and prospective demarcation lines can be redrawn along their due locations without violating either nation's sovereignty or integrity.

Otherwise, those border stakes may one day find themselves erected outside the Royal Palace itself, by which time no amount of 'theatrical stunt' will be enough to remove them.

Whoever you are, MP, you are a very writer with clear a balanced view of the urgent matter. You said it the very best and you must be congratulate for your contribution.

I like your statement very much: "All party-task force (parliamentary group) should be set up to investigate and verify any alleged land encroachment on the Eastern front if the Cambodian authorities are adamant that such allegations are unfounded or cynically exploited for political capital making or, to create a second Preah Vihear in the East."

I say: IT's SHOW TIME. Show the people the TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH.

I don't get it: How come Ah Dap-News, Ah Koh santepheap, etc do not have a field day with this news? Usually, those two pro CPP newspapers would just jump on the SRP members already. Take the case of Mu Sokhue and that other man cases. They would run the their articles ceaselessly about those two inviduals in their newspapers. Where is Khieu Kanharridth in all of this? Khieu Kanharridth used to say that the reasons why the Khmer lost the 22 provinces (Mekong Delta) to the Viets because the Khmer leaders at the time were not smart enough. So how come with his boss Hun Sen's leadership, the Viets still staking more Khmer land? Let the truth be revealed. Soy Sopheab used to be boldy say that the Thais will not be able to use their guns against the Preah Vihear Temple, but already, the temple was already scraped with shrapnel. In fact, if there is going to be a war between Thailand and Cambodia, the temple will not be spared as it is in the way of the war path and it will be used as a target. Remember, the UNESCO recognized Buddhist Statue in Afagnistan that got blown up and erased completely by the government of that nation. Yes.

The Royal government of Cambodia must seek UN intervention regarding illegal border posts moved inside Cambodia by Vietnam. Our Khmer farmers and peasants along border can report to provincial authorities regarding any irregularities. We need modern tech to verify the boundary markers according to existing UN maps.

We lost Kampuchea Krom by King Chey Chetta II because of a "Vietnamese pussy."

Now we lose more land because Hun Sen is a Vietnamese puppet. Undeniably, the Viets helped him gained power and wealth (through plundering Cambodia's natural resources and extreme corruption.)

If the CPP is truly a Khmer nationalist party, then it should not be silence regarding Vietnamese illegal encroachment into Khmer land and sue Sam Rainsy.

If Hun Sen wants to be a national Hero like King-Father Sihanouk, he must take Vietnam to the international court of justice regarding Koh Tral and the illegal treaties coerced by Vietnam to sign in 1985. If not, he and his family should emigrate to Hanoi for good.

Hun Sen gets a (D-) for mishandling the Preah Vihear case. Prolonging bilateral negotiations is a waste of time. This should have been in UN security council for discussion.

The Cambodian people deserve to have a leader that cares about their concerns, protect their land, provide freedom, security and justice. At the same time, safeguard national interests above personal and foreign interests.

It's better to acknowledge that we're currently under Vietnamese control since 1979.

Vietnamese can do anything inside Cambodia without any consequences. Try to criticize them or raise any issues "anti-Vietnam", you'll see CPP goons right at your door step.

Just compare the treatment of Khmers in Vietnam and Vietnamese in Cambodia.

At the border, Viet soldiers can travel inside Cambodia wiht their guns. Khmer soldiers have to leave their arms at the border if they want to go to Vietnam.

But hey, the landlord makes the rules and you know Dr. Sen is not the one.

Talking abut racial equality and the Khmer will always rank last if compare to the Vietnamese, Thai, and Laos! This is a sad day for all Khmer people! And I don't know what does it takes for the Khmer leaders to realize this! If the Khmer leaders are so damn smart why do they allow the Viet and Siem to kill Khmer through political game! The only people play political game are liar, cheater, stealer, and killer!

Some Khmer leaders are like fly and they born and reproduce and die like fly without leaving any legacy behind to show of their achievement! If one day Khmer nation is to disappear from the face of the Earth and it is the Khmer leaders who chose to behave like fly and it is the failure of Khmer people to act to kill such fly from destroying them in the first place!

If human can conquer over nature and Khmer people can conquer over Cambodia too! Kill the fly to conquer over nature!
