Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was appointed as economic advisor to the Cambodian government, officials said Wednesday.
He will also be a private advisor to Prime Minister Hun Sen, Xinhua reported.
King Norodom Sihamoni has formally appointed Thaksin to the posts on Oct 27 at the request of prime minister and in accordance with the country's constitution, a government spokesman said Wednesday.
Thaksin has been living in self-exile in foreign countries since he was toppled from power in 2006.
Cambodia said it will not extradite Thaksin to Thailand if he stays in the country.

I can see Hun Sen is playing the big fire between Thailand Politic.
First I like to say that Khmer Troop is very experienced in warfare than thailand. For a short war in Preah Vihear, Thailand will loose because Thailand cannot invade Cambodian at all. The international community will support Cambodia for the long run if Thailand invade Cambodia for the Preah Vihear issue.
But for Cambodia to keep Thaksin in Cambodia, Cambodia is giving Thailand their legetimate right to launch miliatary attack inside Cambodia for Cambodia harbouring their criminal. For this attack, Thailand would have international community support as their excuse of war against Terrorist>
If this war erupte, Vietnam Cannot support Hun Sen at all because Vietnam is an outsider.

I think Thailand King had provided appropriately his royal duty to guarantee the democracy system of their country.
It was true that Thaksin had been elected democratically by Thailand people. His landslide victory had pushed him during his second term of office as more dictatorship by sacking many opposition voices and many organisations who dare to criticise him. So I believe that Thailand King had served his people correctly. Unlike our King who had done nothing to guarantee our democracy system and to allow powerfull individual to abuse their power.
