PHNOM PENH - CAMBODIAN Prime Minister Hun Sen criticised Thailand's leaders on Monday, saying they had insulted his country after Phnom Penh refused to extradite fugitive former Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
Mr Hun Sen said that his country would 'have no happiness' while Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his foreign Minister Kasit Piromya were still in power.
'I'm not the enemy of the Thai people... But the prime minister and the foreign minister, these two people look down on Cambodia extremely,' Mr Hun Sen said in a speech at a provincial ceremony. 'Cambodia will have no happiness as long as this group is in power in Thailand,' he added.
The two countries have fought clashes near a temple on their disputed border since last year and were embroiled in a row this month when Thaksin visited Cambodia in his new role as an economic adviser to Phnom Penh.
Mr Hun Sen said he would not extradite Thaksin, who was toppled in a coup in 2006 and is living abroad to avoid a jail term for corruption, because his conviction was politically motivated.
The two countries withdrew their respective ambassadors and Thailand halted a series of aid programmes to Cambodia. The Cambodian leader slammed a further Thai threat to close the border between the two countries, saying: 'If you are (an) idiot, if you want the loss, please do it.'

Hun Sen forgets DK was toppled by disgruntled rebels with the aids from Viet that started the war in Cambodia since Hun Sen was a boy herding the cattle near its borderline.

Good move Hun Sen but you also need to clean your act for the sake of national interest. I don't see how you slam Thailand and allow Vietnam to take advantage of Cambodia border frontiers. Khmer people not happy to see you do that... we are sick of being taking advantages of... do you?

Here how I score Hun Sen as prime minister of Cambodia:
- He does well for his fight with Thailand.
- He does badly for his fight with Vietnam.
- He does poorly for domestic politics with the opposition party.
Overall, he got a 2/3s score from me for being a prime minister. His score would have much improve if he fight harder with Vietnam and show some love or less fierce for his domestic politics.

Dear all, as long as I personally understanding Khmer problem politically, what Mr.Hun Sen doing is good such of his GOV'T in between the powerful pressure from every angles. I know some of us in this blog understand quite well regard of this matter I agreed with 12:43am and 3:07am. Mr. Hun Sen actually doing his best possible to save Cambodia from Siamese, of course not from Viet but my friends Mr. Hun Sen will fight with Siamese if the situation getting worsen. I really don't want to see that going to happen, any ways with Siam Mr. Hun Sen actions is getting gradully better. Good!! Good!!

Whenever I read comments on this blog regarding Hun Sen, most of them seem to be against him in any kind of activities. This is the reason why the opposition party is ready to sink. The sooner the people realize that this party does nothing but criticizing, the sooner the opposition party will disapear.
"You can criticize does not mean you can do better" this is what I and many people understand. You are not any where to solve the current border issue with Siem and you are not in the position to even talk to Vietnam in term of demarcation, therefore if you were in power Khmer may have been erased from the world map.
I support what the RGC is doing.

SR should have done things smart like Son Chhay's invitation to answer at the MP meeting. Only after that, he should have visited the field. Be calm and cool but deep. To beat CPP is not to follow what CPP has done.
