A lawyer representing the Thai engineer who is being detained in Cambodia on charges of spying on Thaksin's flight details revealed that he will submit a bail request this week.

Chawanon Intarakomarasut, secretary to Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya and spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that a Cambodian lawyer representing Siwarak Chutipong, the Thai engineer who is accused of spying on Thaksin's flight details, will submit a bail request on behalf of Siwarak this week.

Regarding the request for permission for Siwarak's mother to visit her son at the prison that was submitted by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Chawanon added that his ministry is still waiting for a reply from Cambodia authorities.

A source from Thai embassy in Phnom Penh reported that Siwarak is in good condition.

Chawanon added that the Foreign Affairs Ministry is studying the details of trade and investment law in order to find ways to help Cambodia Air Traffic Service, or CATS, where Thai employees are being barred.

Siwarak worked for CATS before he was arrested by Cambodia authorities. He is alleged to have spied on Thaksin's flight details for Thailand.

When asked about another report that recently surfaced regarding the take over plan of CATS by a daughter of Cambodia PM Hun Sen, Chawanon said he has no knowledge about this report.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said he has yet to receive any confirmation about the reported take over plan.
