The charge d'affaires of the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh said Sunday that the Thai engineer who was arrested on spy charge is still safe inside the Phnom Penh prison.

Chalotorn Phaovibul, the charge d'affairs, said Siwarak Chothipong is still safe and he has reported the latest situation to the Foreign Ministry.

Siwarak, an engineer of Cambodia Air Traffic Services, has been arrested and charged with spying for allegedly "stealing" the flight information of ex-Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra and Cambodia's PM Hun Sen.

Chalotorn said the situation in Cambodia remained normal.
