Deportation of Uighur Asylum Seekers Condemned

The US joined rights groups on Monday in condemning the forced return to China of 20 Uighur asylum seekers over the weekend.

The Muslim Uighurs had fled after anti-Chinese riots in their home province of Xinjiang in July, but Chinese officials had said they should be returned to face criminal charges.

The US condemned the deportation, which occurred before members’ asylum status could be assessed by the UN’s refugee office in Phnom Penh and on the eve of a visit by Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping.

The US State Department said in a statement the forced return would affect Cambodia’s relationship with the US and its international standing.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Kuy Kuong said the move had been conducted under Cambodia’s constitution.

Xi arrived in Cambodia on Sunday to lead a high-level delegation to discuss cooperation between the two nations and “promote common development.”

“The good-neighborly relations between China and Cambodia are in the interests of the two peoples and benefit the peace, stability and prosperity in the region," Xi told the Chinese news agency Xinua on his arrival in Siem Reap.

US, You can condemn all you want. Hun Sen don't give a dam because Chinese give a lot more money than you give. So shut up! and Don't waste any tax payer's money on next round of money begging time from Cambodia.

Lier Americans, you do nothing to help muslims Chineses, you wait until Cambodia sends them back to China and you blame Cambodia.

Well, as usual, Cambodia doesn't bother about international condemnation. What the leaking-bucket government needs is dollars to pour into it bucket. Whoever gives money to Cambodia, whatever they want can be done. Right?

Not like America and EU countries, China gives money without setting any condition, such as demanding a respect of human rights, dealing with corruption, etc,. Hey, I forget, what China wants is Cambodia's natural resource, like mining on gold, iron, etc, to supply its booming economy.

If Cambodia have a choice between US and China, Cambodia will choose China, because China is closer, has more influence in Asia, and have more money to give than the US. Simple common sense.

I am not a CPP but I cannot condemn Hun Sen for sending the Uighurs back to China.

Why those people didn´t move to the neighboring Muslim Countries instead. That was more easier and safer.

In politic there´s no morale. We cannot sacrifice our national interests for those Uighur people. I am very sorry for them, but I will do the same thing as Hun Sen and as the Americans.

Look at the Kyoto Conference and tge Copenhaguen Conference. What the Amereicans did for the poor nations, concerning the Climate change?

* The European and US should blame China directly.
* What can Cambodia do?
* A weak and poor country like Cambodia is always under pressure from the more powerful country.
* Anyway, Cambodia doesn't even care about its own people.
* Cambodia is just a checkerboard played by Vienam, China and others?
* Cambodia is also a victim of consequences.
* The European Union and the US should not be surprised about the deportation, if they do they should also concern about how the Cambodian government treat their own people.

As a Cambodian, I think the government is doing to right thing for Cambodia and its people. After all, considering the massive amount of aid Cambodia received from China, it is common sense for Cambodia has comply with China.

For all those Western countries who want to stop Cambodia from doing what China says, maybe they should stop barking now and start outdoing China in term of giving aid to Cambodia.

I live in the United States. This is the one of the best country to live. I love America! However, I hate its policy toward other countries. The American preach freedom, but never dare to stand against and confront any ditactor like Hun Sen.

Of course we stand for democracy and freedom but what can we do?.We are not world policeman. We will act swiftly with the support of our people if our interest is harmed.

To those who live in America and felt disgruntle ,you are free to leave and no question asked.
