Marking of VN border to continue despite SRP

We knew that the Constitutional Council was mostly composed by the CPP and therefore the decision must be politically biased. But we must do it to show Cambodians that the law was not enforced properly as the system requires” - Kimsour Phirith , SRP spokesman
THE Constitutional Council on Friday dismissed a request by the opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) that the government suspend joint demarcation of the Cambodia-Vietnam border, saying the request did not fall under its jurisdiction.

When contacted Sunday, Pen Thol, spokesman for the nine-member council, did not comment in detail, saying the council’s decision spoke for itself.

“I can’t comment over this, because it is a decision of the Constitutional Council. [The SRP] has the right to say what it wants,” he said.

On Wednesday, 14 SRP lawmakers sent a letter to Council President Ek Sam Ol, asking him to postpone the planting of border posts pending an investigation into the party’s claims that four border marker posts in Svay Rieng province’s Chantrea district lie up to 500 metres inside Cambodia’s legal territory.

Sam Rainsy has already been jailed for two years following an incident in which he joined villagers in uprooting six temporary border markers in the area.

SRP spokesman Kimsour Phirith said the Constitutional Council’s ruling was a result of political “bias”, noting that most of its members are members of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).

We knew that the Constitutional Council was mostly composed by the CPP and therefore the decision must be politically biased,” he said. “But we must do it to show Cambodians that the law was not enforced properly as the system requires.”

Kimsour Phirith said the planting of Vietnamese border posts violated Article 2 of the Constitution, which pledges the government to protect the country’s territorial integrity.

now, don't tell me that all the borders are contentious. i think the areas of contentious will require further inspection while on the other hand, the areas that agreed and properly should re-enforce demarcation and so forth. don't try to hold everything due to a few technical erra, etc... i think it is better to demarcate the border soon than having to wait and wait and not demarcating it at all. now, how else is cambodia supposed to stop neighboring countries from stealing our lands? well, one solution is to properly demarcate our borderlines by using as much natural landmarks as possible such as river, stream, creek, mountains, villages, and so forth. i think it should be left to the competent border committee or experts to do this to prevent chaos or unethical conduct, etc...

11:37PM,
"i think it should be left to the competent border committee or experts to do this to prevent chaos or unethical conduct, etc..."

Can you tell me who are those "COMPETENT" border committee members are? I iguess you cannot name anybody else beside the stupid, big mouth, youn slave Var Kim Hong, right? This competent border committee of Cambodia ( or of Vietnam) let youns do whatever they want. It's very shameful that the CPP call themselves Khmers. If they are Khmers they should care about Khmer interests first...

Actual committee members are monkeys and Yuons, how can we trust them, it's better to have no demarcation than lost lands.

In South East Asia, Cambodia is the only country that still has puppet government! The faith of Cambodia and Cambodian people are being decided a thousand miles away by the Vietcong government!

When dealing with the Cambodia-Vietname demarcation process and it is better to do thing the right way the first time then not to do anything at all! What is the fucken rush? The fucken Vietcong government has no right to put pressure on Cambodian government to their bidding!
