Phnom Penh - Armed Cambodian military police prevented a group of 16 opposition lawmakers Thursday from inspecting a new boundary marker on the border with Vietnam, an opposition member said.
Cambodia and Vietnam are in the process of demarcating their shared border, and the placement of some markers has proved contentious with claims they encroach on Cambodian farmers' fields.
Sam Rainsy Party lawmaker Son Chhay said the legislators had heard that the border marker was well inside Cambodian territory and went to inspect it but more than a dozen military police tried to prevent them from reaching the site.
"If the government has nothing to hide, they should not work so hard to stop us 5 kilometres away," he said by telephone.
The group eventually managed to get within 150 metres of the post in the south-eastern province of Takeo before they were again turned back by local police.
The government on Tuesday warned that the trip was illegal and said it would prevent the group from reaching the area.
Opposition leader Sam Rainsy was sentenced in absentia in January to two years jail for his role in uprooting boundary posts in October on the Vietnam border.
That incident riled Hanoi, which has close links to the government in Phnom Penh.
Vietnam also has significant business interests in Cambodia, including investments in agribusiness, aviation, telecommunications and banking.

Mr. Son Chay please!,please! You are law maker and also you are represent for part of government too, you shall have all right to visit border and inspect of government wrong doing. Please keep up with your issue, people are crying now due to corupted governemt and you are part of that government too becuase you are working on Cambodian national buget. I am so piss about unfair from this so call CPP. You must tell them(cpp) we are now elected government,every khmer citizen has all right to appeal on any issue.

Hun Xen must open his both eyes, otherwise close them all and let other peoples who don't have the back-string from Hanoi. It is a simple and open free-door for Yuon to take over of Cambodia in 99 years of this concession. Hun Xen himself can't live for that long..! We don't know what Hun Xen owes to Yuon, but in any circumstances, he must THINK, he is also KHMER..! And must be transparent and just to Khmer society..! If he thought the plant of border demarcation is correct (not invade to another) he must allow the opposition to go and see as thier roles are to watch the government's action in order to check and balance..!

obviously the MP or any Khmer person have the freedom of moment inside Cambodia. They do not need permission from Hun Sen or Heng Samrin to go anywhere inside Cambodia.
They just want to make the statment out loud and bring the press with them so that other people can see too the border lies - that is why Heng Samrin say no. He doesn't want national and foreign press to get a hold of it personally, so he intimidates them.
the truth is the opposition and other Khmer patriots have already been to the place and taken gps measurement without Heng Samrin's knowledge. We all know it is a blatant violation and carrying out of command by Mr. Tan Dung's order.
This regime is obviously going to lose. Blaring problems in Cambodian society. There is no way this regime win without the ghost votes and Vietnamese illegals.
I went to Cambodia and voted in the last election because my family member, believe it or not are CPP affiliated! digusting! but we're actually closet opposition. So i got a voting name without even being a Cambodian citizen - I just got an extra identity provided because we are affiliated with CPP. I am just one case. There are probably thousands if not hundreds of thousands like myself. Ghost and duplicate voters and illegal votes!
In Sroke Khmer, Youne has more right than Khmer. Seem to me Cambodia is already Youne. I am suprise that Youn is still let Hun Sen run the country. I mean the whole country now is pretty run by Youn-polices, military, religious,national assemblies, senate...There is nothing Khmer can do. Vietnamese does not need to install, or move border line, already is Youn land.

Cambodian parliament members are nothing; they have no power. They cannot even move around the country as they wish and most of them have immunities. Only local police can prevent them traveling to the place they want in Cambodia sovereignty.
