Technically speaking, what we buy from Thailand is Cambodia rice"The Philippines wants to forge a counter trade deal with Cambodia for 300,000 metric tons of rice during the first RP-Cambodia Investment and Trade Mission this week.
“Cambodia has a lot of exportable rice surplus. Part of our mission is to get them to agree to a counter trade agreement wherein the Philippines will source 200 to 300,000 metric tons Cambodia rice in exchange for Philippine agricultural produce and post harvest technology," said Pablito Villegas, the trade mission’s investment officer agribusiness.
Villegas said the Philippine delegation would also try to work out direct trade deals on rice during its mission.

Cambodia expects a 3.1 million MT surplus of exportable paddy rice this year, according to Cambodia’s Supreme National Economic Council.
Cambodia is soon coming up with a rice export policy, would like to consult the Philippines for possible collaboration and assistance in post-harvest technology.
“They would like to deal directly with the Philippines. We believe that we can purchase the rice at 20 to 30 percent cheaper from what we normally pay other suppliers," Villegas said.

that is so true about cambodia's rice. neighboring country, especially thailand and vietnam brought khmer rice across the many borders points and then resale them to the world for higher price. and as a result the world only think and know that only thailand and vietnam for rice growers. that must change when the philipines step in to buy khmer rice as well. go the philipines compete with those countries of thailand and vietnam for cambodia's rice. i hope cambodia will become better known in the world sooner or later with our rich agricultural products, etc... god bless cambodia.
cambodia should also bag our own rice with label in khmer and english that say "produce of cambodia", etc... also, in business, cambodia is rich in agricultural products and fish as well. why not make fish jerky and sale in the asian market, etc with lables "made in cambodia or produce of cambodia". also, make dried fruits and nuts products,etc... i can think of a millions items cambodia can make with our rich agricultural products, etc... think about it! learn from the world by looking around the world, ok!
also, make canned food in cambodia like sardine in tomato sauce, dried fish products, etc...
