Leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) on Tuesday led a demonstration against the listing of Preah Vihear temple as a Unesco World Heritage site and presented a protest petition to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya.
Mr Abhisit and Mr Kasit went to Baan Phisanulok to accept the petition from PAD leaders Pibhop Thongchai, Panthep Puapongpan and Kamnoon Sitthisaman.
In the morning, PAD leader Chamlong Srimuang led about 700 people to the Unesco building on Sukhumvit Road to protest against Cambodia being given management control of the ancient temple despite the territorial dispute over the border area around it.
Maj-Gen Chamlong told reporters later that Unesco Bangkok's chief administration officer Edgar Sharuk had informed him the PAD's petition had been forwarded to the Unesco World Heritage Committee, which is meeting in Brazil this week. The committee had acknowledged receipt of the petition.
The PAD leaders would meet again to discuss what to do next, he said.
The demonstration caused a severe traffic jam during the morning.

Whatever Thai and the PAD are going to do about Preas Vihear , nothing is going to change . Thai PM said that Thailand never agree with the International Court that awarded Preas Vihear to Cambodia in 1962 . What a dumb statement . If you didnt agree with the Court why didn't you do anything in the last 10 years ? Abhisith has been graduated from Howard University but he doen't talk like he is an educated person.
Thailand is in a total confuse. They can't do anything to Cambodia and they have been lobying the world diplomatic to support them but they failed time after time.

Hor Nam Hong added that Thai leaders wanted to review about registering Preah Vihear temple (of Cambodia) with the Committee of World Heritage of UNESCO and also wanted to register jointly for Preah Vihear temple. "Preah Vihear temple and land surrounding areas belongs to Cambodia not Thailand according to the verdict of World Court's rule in 1962," Hor stressed.
"It is big mistake and serious one that were created by Thai leaders," he said, adding that they have spoken without thoughts.
"If they want to have armed conflicts for third time, we welcome," he said, adding "today we have known that Thai command for second region put their troops on alert, our troops also is ready for fighting, but so far the situation there is calm."
Moreover, Hor Namhong said "the border tension was caused by Thai side. We (Cambodia) want to resolve the border issue peacefully and friendly. But our effort made no result."
"Military tension has not occurred yet today, but tomorrow I do not know," Hor said, adding that Preah Vihear temple already registered as cultural and humanitarian matters for all people.
"We are ready to deal border issue with Thailand by using peaceful resolution, international law, military, or diplomatic ways," he noted.
We should protest in front of the UN office to claim our provinces back from Tightland so let the thais think twice about preah vihera temple.

Many foreign presses covers Preah Vihear's issues. These coverages, unfortunately, are biased as they have been fed by misinformation from Bangkok. Non of the press quoted any infromation from Cambodia...What are the responsible Khmer's officials are doing? Has Khieu Kanarith been drunk all these day-long?
It is a shame for PAD Leader. Why do you want somebody's else land shamelessly? Why Khmer people not demanding Surin, Sisaket back?

Both in physical and psychological aspects, Cambodian people has been deeply suffered from the unmoral people like Siamese who is always attempting to invade Cambodia. Siamese people must review and learn from the past of the history. The simple questions are: where were they originally come from? And who are they now? And what they will be in the future?
There is only thing that make Thai society get confused about the Preah Vihear temple because of some nationalistic historians and political leaders who have extremely spoiled themselves and their society through an untold a true history to their young generation. Thus, they are irately and adamantly use the Preah Vihear temple as an excuse for their demand to satisfy both the extreme nationalists and their political gain.
In the reality, they know that the Preah Vihear temple and the land surrounding area is belong to Cambodia by international rule, but why they want to sell their name and country at the international arena? Because they cannot whitewash their extremely aggressive attempt due to 1). satisfy the aged King before his death and 2). help boosting the political benefit of Democrat Party for future election. At the moment, Cambodia just wanted to maintain its territory and the temple as it is now and today, which has been internationally recognized by rule of verdict.
The cardboard read was so frustrated me as it was completely acceptable while a small group of these Siamese people plays only for their individual sentiment without considering the impact of another's who is the real ownership of the property by the international verdict. As the sole owner, Cambodia has full rights to do whatsoever we want within inside of our/Cambodia territory.
The government and historian of Siamese must look further to review and change it current and future relations with Cambodia regarding the Preah Vihear temple issues, otherwise their name and reputation will be internationally degraded by actions of the current government and yellow shirts (PAD).
i hope unesco and the world use facts, not buy into siem pad thugs' illegal claim like stealing from cambodia, etc... it is ignorant of siem to put a baby named ahbishit as leader because he doesn't understand the world no way and i don't think he can understand khmer and english either. shame on siem for putting this baby siem in office to argue with the law and cambodia, etc... shame on siem! i hope the world is not as ignorant as siem pad thugs are!
