Protesters on Tuesday submit a protest note to UN Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) against Cambodia's bid to list Preah Vihear Temple as World Heritage Site.
The protest of about 1,000 people, in front of Unesco's Bangkok regional office started at 10am and was led by yellow shirts leaders; Chamlong Srimuang and Chaiwat Sinsuwongse. They vowed to stay on until 3pm.
The gathering has worsened the traffic congestion.
Chamlong said the protest is aimed at opposing Cambodia's listing of the temple as Unesco World Heritage Site and condemning the Unesco.
TheHindu Khmer temple near the Thai-Cambodian border was listed in July 2008 as a World Heritage Site, but Thailand has been lobbying member countries to delay Phnom Penh's management plan owing to disputes in areas adjacent to the temple.
The Thai authorities want Cambodia's management plan to be delayed until the border dispute is settled. Unsco's World Heritage panel is meeting in Brazil to discuss the list. Both countries have sent their ministers to the meeting.

Thailand must respect the International Court of Justice, which ruled out that the temple and the land surrounding temple area is under the sovereignty of Cambodia.
The PAD leaders and the current government is too much extremism and nationlism without thinking of another who is the ownership of the property of the Temple. What they have been trying to do now is to provoke not only thier Thai national but also the international bodies to dig out the buried decision of the ICJ after nearly a half of century, in order to voice that they are now lodging a protest against the ICJ's decision. The game was conpletely over and it is too late, if they (thai) feel and/or think that they are trying to refresh the case.
On the other hand, if they (thai people) wanted to dig out the case, Cambodia should also help to teach on this history. It was not too far from the moment of ICJ's decision, Cambodia had lost some of its territory to Thailand for example Surin, Bory Ram, Srah Keo, Chan Bory and many others. In this case, Thai must change its dreams and if possible must it countryname as well from Thailand (which means free) to the good thief and/or aggressive invader country...
Cambodia should go forward unilaterally develop the area and ignore these PAD idiots.
They already caused enough division inside Thailand.
At the same time Cambodians should keep their guns polished and be ready for the over zealous Thai gov't.

I thought Thai is a civilized country. But, instead their citizen has no respect for the rules and orders from the Gov.
Maybe they confused between freedom and rules and orders.
Those old PAD leaders used to do that to Cambodian, but they can't do that any more.
I don't think UNESCO that dumb to let the Thai to do whatever they want. Cambodian is managing and developing in her own country only.
