Man kills five relatives in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, Aug 20 (DPA) A Cambodian man killed five family members and injured three others after they prevented him from raping his 16-year-old sister-in-law, local media reported Friday.

The man, identified only as Nang, then hanged himself.

Police said the crime, which took place Thursday in south-eastern Svay Rieng province near the border with Vietnam, was among the worst the country had seen in years.

Provincial police chief Prach Rim told the Phnom Penh Post newspaper the victims were related to Nang.

“The attacker had raped his sister-in-law twice before, and he tried to rape her again, but was apparently stopped by his family,” he said.

“They then fought together, and the attacker locked the doors of the house and stabbed his family members to death before hanging himself,” Prach Rim said.

Police said Nang murdered his wife, his 2-year-old son, his mother-in-law and two of his sisters-in-law. His daughter and nephew were injured, as was the sister-in-law he tried to rape.

Last month a drunken soldier murdered three people and injured four during a rampage in nearby Kampong Cham province after arguing with his wife.

The head of one prominent local human rights organisation said he was worried the issue of domestic violence is not being taken seriously in parts of Cambodia.

“It seems everyone sees this kind of violence as normal,” said Thun Saray, the head of Adhoc.

We Khmer are living in the Kali Yuga era of chaos, destruction, and dissolution. Everything crumbles and rot very deeply, no sense of right, wrong, or morality exist anymore that can be absolutely counted upon.

Man is deprave. If you think you aren't, you are lying to yourself.

By the fear of a holy God will man depart from evil. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.

It doesn't mean man has completely rid himself of all evil inclinations, it means he will be responsible for his own action in the light of his Creator whom he has to do.

Like that ten commandments that someone posted. Man first obligation is to love his creator
God. Like a child first obligation is to obey his parents.

If man understands his sole purpose in life, which is to fear the LORD and keep his commandments, then all would be well with him.

Problem; man has made himself gods which are non-gods to worship instead his Creator.

Solution: Are the problems in the world or societies today a God problem or man's problem? Just incase you don't get it--its a man problem. God hasn't change, man has changed. Because of this fact, man brings about his own calamity; wrong choices has it consequences.

Man must need to adjust his compass to his Creator set rules and regulations before full blessings fall upon society.

Remember: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of WISDOM. Man either continue in his foolishness or wise up for his own good. Choose life!

I do want to see good come to Cambodians. After all, they are my flesh and blood people.

It's a BAD face of Khmer culture.
To avoid this kind of tragedy, Khmer should favour sexual relation, drop virginity value and more open to boy and girl relation.

2:47AM, you are in favor of more calamity upon Cambodia? Sex outside of marriage is a sin against humanity. This is what causes alot of sexual diseases. To suggest such is be as one with an animal. At least animals don't engage in same sex activities.

You were made better than an animal and you should seek to walk above the animal nature that is in you.

Sin is a curse to any nation, righteousness exalteth a nation.

All human beings has a sense of right and wrong embedded in our soul from our Creator. But to be really sure is to know our Creator God. All contains in the bible.

But if you object the bible being a fairy tale, you will suffer the unchangeable effects of the law of God set forth in this universe.

sad, indeed! cambodia must look into providing social services and psychiatric intervention to our people all across the nation. we should not ingnore this social issue as normal in our society. we must discourage domestic violence in our country by educating our people to avoid and seek authority intervention and medical intervention, etc at all cost! nobody deserves to die like this, really! good that it's in the news now so attention can be focus more on getting rid of domestic violence! educating the people is one key way to rid of this social ill; psychological intervention is another way as well. by all mean, we must help to educate our people to avoid this kind of violence! please help them!

there is no excuse in the world for what happened here in svay rieng, cambodia. this tragedy is not unique to cambodia; we hear this kind of news everywhere, even in america, etc. that said, we should not tolerate this kind of violence. this is a case of a crazy, psychotic, loser man, because he killed himself after he killed a his family members. this man is crazy, and i'm sure a psychiatrist and a psychologist can tell us more about this kind of person. let's praise for the victims' family.
