Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Monday that he would appeal to U.S. President Barack Obama during his upcoming visit to New York to cancel more than 300 million U.S. dollars considered as "dirty debt" occurred by the Lon Nol regime in the 1970s.
"I will tell the U.S. that the 1970-75 debt is considered as dirty debt and ask them to cancel it," Hun Sen said on Monday at the inauguration of Preak Phnov Bridge.
Hun Sen said the suggestion would be made when he meets with U. S. President Obama during the ASEAN-U.S. Leaders' Meeting in New York from Sept. 24-26.
The estimated 317 million U.S. dollars were the low-interest loans given to the then Lon Nol regime that came to power in a March 1970 coup backed by Washington. The loan was officially said to develop Cambodia's agriculture, but Hun Sen said it was paid for bombs to "drop on our heads" by U.S. forces in the early 1970s.
Cambodia has asked the United States several times to convert the debt into aid.

it is now a good beginning for the usa to commensurate the sin cleaning process with cambodia. if cambodia is to pay off this debt now, the usa would look like a bully and arrogant who brought deaths and destructions to cambodia. the mutual trust will never be there in the future. bring it to a closure. you are a big boy. act like a good one.
When Hun Sen talks with Obama what language will he use? Vietname or Khmer?

Under HENG SAMRIN ,Cambodia was also owed Russia by hundred of millions of dollars.Will Cambodia ask Russia to cancel those debt too?.
China should also pay for the damages they had done to Cambodia by supporting khmer rouge to the end .Will Cambodia ask China to pay for that?.

After the first fight broke out at the border between Khmer and Thai soldiers, DAP reported that a few Thai tanks have been destroyed by Khmer soldiers.

USA doesn't cancel debt of $300M because Americans want Cambodians remember that Americans bombed Cambodia from 1960 to 1975, 100 times more than they did on Japoneses at 2nd world war.
This time Hun Sen does not beg but threatens US to cancel debts. He used to threaten Yash Gai, Kenyan professor and UN envoy, now he may think to threaten people with Kenyan origin.

1: You must resign immediately and hand over your title to Sam Rainsey.
2: Hand over all of your assets to the Cambodian people plus all of the land that you've confiscate from.
3: You and your family must leave Cambodia immediately and surrender your citizenship.
