This latest publicity show is another example of the Hun Clan trying to polish its public image due to Prime Minister's iron fist rule, but importantly due to the misdeeds of his many relatives in the past that have drawn Mr. Hun Sen to warn of a revenge attack when he is no longer in powerPrime Minister Hun Sen seems to be positioning for a political succession in recent years when his children, especially his oldest son Hun Manet, were seen coming out in drove to carry out humanitarian works in less fortunate areas, particularly in rural Cambodia.
The latest publicity stunt happened on Saturday 18th September in Phnom Penh's Russey Keo district when Hun Manet, Hun Many and his wife, Dy Vichea, Hun Sen's son-in-law and son of the late Police Commissioner Hok Lundy, brought abundance of gifts to the 133 orphaned children living in an orphanage in the area.
They donated 5o bikes, 2 tons of rice, 50 kilograms of smoked fish, 100 kilograms of dried and pickled white carrot, 10 boxes of canned fish, 50 boxes of instant noodle, 100 kilograms of salt, 80 kilograms of MSG powder, 200 kilograms of white sugar, 20 containers of fish sauce and 20 containers of liquid bean seasoning sauce.
On top of this, they donated 10 foot balls, 10 volley balls, 10 shuttle cocks etc. They also donated 660 notebooks, 160 T-shirts, pens, pencils, clothes and other things to the 133 children of the orphanage. They donated 6 pairs of clothes, 6 kramas (thin towel), 6 sarongs and 6 pairs of thongs to older disabled people in the area.
On top of this, each of 11 staff of the orphanage gets 200,000 riels ($50) each, each of the 133 orphan gets 20,000 riels ($5), each of the 6 disabled people gets $100,000 ($25) and the orphanage gets an 8 ($2,000) million riels donation from the Hun Sen family. On top of this, the orphanage gets 3 computers, one photocopier and one printer.
Prime Minister Hun Sen has been seen trying to groom his oldest son, Hun Manet who graduated from the prestigious West Point Military Academy in the U.S, holds a Masters Degree from Georgetown University in the U.S and holds a Ph.D from Britain's Bristol University, for the last 3 years or so by attempting to find him a parliamentary seat within the ruling Cambodian People's Party, but was opposed by the party's old guards. He later was appointed a brigadier general in the Cambodian Military.

We are hoping that Hun Manet is less corruption and protecting his country from the Yuon take over when he become a Prime Minister. Manet earned a real PhD from England he must be very smart man Cambodian depended on his new role in leadership.

Its very generous of them but the question is , where did they get the money from ? I heard Hun Sen's son was a national police chief , whats his salary ?

Hay 6:45 am, the reason that people are critizing Hun's son is that he done this for political show off. Not a true giving to people. Can he just give something to Khmer children without sarounding himself by all these reporter and TV. Thus, this is just for political publicity. How much does he spend on this donation vs how much he will gain on political capital from the poor!
6:45 am, you are remind me of the three monkeys that I saw in some of the Khmer people's home ( monkeys show - no see, no hear, and no talk)...this is really simbolize the khmer population under Sdat Hun regime and now groming his son (like father like son). As long as Hun's regime maintain population young under education...it will be easy for his son to control them...these population will be thankful for Hun Manet that they are able to craw under his feet...go figure 6:45 pm

Do you really think that they give all of these materials out of their love for the poor? They have stolen from these poor people a lot and now they have given them just a little bit and you already get excited. Perhaps you are one of those who profusely thank Vietnam again and again for having come to Cambodia to save your ass. They did save your ass, but their reason of coming to Cambodia in 1979 was totally something else and it was just that in the process of swallowing Cambodia your ass was saved for now!
He starts buying off children at the orphanage first and then those valueless will go to the illiterated and ignored people and then to the ranked hunger people within the last time will be target onto the people who dislike his regime (if the last buying off will not be succeeded, the plan of assassination and killing will be started over).
Very good point 1:31 pm...I know that you are staying out side Cambodia...otherwise you wouldn't want to say this. You know Ankar have an eyes like pinapple? They can see everywhere...if you happen to be in Cambodia in the last few month...you can hear the fear come out people you talk too. They are scare of Hun Sen. They don't know who is who..no capital of trust in current Khmer society...very sad for khmer..do you know how much economics lost to Khmer society?

I have to admite that I'm not old enough to know the whol Khmer history...thus, I feel lack of trust while I was in Cambodia from the people.

PM Hun Sen has a prety long list of bad records when it comes to treating the Khmer people. He is known for an "iron fist" and allowing Youn to control his administration. As the result of his corrupted administration, Khmer people continue to suffer within the last 30 years.
Having said that, I don't know Hun Manet and his personality aspect beside he is Hun Sen son. You all can call me naive, but I am personally very greatful for his gesture despite his intented on those poor Khmer kids. We all should encourage and welcome such gestured by Manet as well as many other CPP members.
