A reliable source indicated that the SRP party in France plans to organize a congress dubbed: “The SRP congress in Europe” which will take place at the end of September. If there is no plan change, this new congress will take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September 2010 in Paris, France, under the leadership of Sam Rainsy. Participants to the congress will include SRP MPs from Phnom Penh, party branch representatives from various countries in Europe and several guests of honor from various associations, as well as various experts.
A source indicated that several representatives from various EU countries, such as Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Italia, have sent in the names of their representatives who will officially attend the party congress. In addition, SRP representatives from various provinces, such as Rhone-Alps, Mulhouse, Grenoble, Montpellier, Marseille, Amiens, Lille, Tour, Troye, Angers etc… will also come to share their work activities with other members of the congress.
The draft of the schedule that we received, the congress organizers have also invited several guests of honor, including:
The SRP is the largest opposition party in Cambodia, it also includes the most numerous party branches overseas. In Europe, the party is represented in almost every single country where Cambodian people reside. Furthermore, in France, the SRP also counts branches in various provinces and in the US and Australia, the SRP counts branches in numerous states and cities. A large portion of the party’s funding comes from contributions received by these party branches from donations from party supporters who are concerned about the situation in Cambodia.
The Human Rights Party (HRP) and the CPP are also trying to exert their influence overseas as well, and these 2 parties are seen as trying to attract away SRP supporters to come to support them. The CPP was able to attract some opposition activists to support them in exchange for [government] positions and money. The people used by the CPP to attract new members are no other than Cambodian embassy officials who abuse their government duty to serve the party interest instead. As for the Funcinpec party which used to have branches overseas also, it does not receive any support anymore, unlike what it used to be. The Nationalist party (formerly the Ranariddh party) does not have any branches at all.
No source can confirm if the congress will announce the alliance of democrats formed from the fusion of the SRP and the HRP, however, HRP party representatives will be invited to attend the congress also. It appears that SRP branch leaders seem to be hesitant to form an alliance with the HRP, however, the final decision will rest with Sam Rainsy and SRP leaders in Phnom Penh only.

- Mr. Sean Pengse, a former government minister and the current president of the Cambodia Borders Committee, will be invited to talk on the current border disputes.
- Mr. Thach Vien, president of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Federation in Europe (KKFE), will talk about the Khmer Krom people living in Vietnam and the rights violations of the indigenous people.
- Venerable Tim Sakhorn will talk about the sentence handed down on Khmer Krom monks in Cambodia and Vietnam.
- Professor Vandy Kaon and Mr. Sakou Samuth will talk about the fate of Cambodian intellectuals who are currently fighting in the Cambodian political arena.
- Prof. Prum Thuch, a professor at the university of pharmacy in Montpellier, who will talk about: “Are the 1991 Paris Peace Agreements for Cambodia in full application or not?”
- Mr. Pin Yathay, an engineer who penned the book “Your life is precious, son, you must survive”, will talk about the possibility of a union of democrats for Cambodia.

SRP likes a snake that has body in Cambodia and head in France. SRP is extreme right wing party likes yellow shirt in Thailand. It always uses nationalist card to stir up its supporters. Sooner or later SRP will be vanished from Cambodian politics arena.
CPP Hun Sen s party it worse than tigers or lions, they have never eat their pups but Hun Sen does killing poor khmers suck their blood to enrich the families and it clans. Cling to the power don't want to give up it doesn't matters they can even read.

Hun Sen should be smarter by now. Just look at Australia, we have at least 95% of the population being educated.Unlike Khmer, we have only a few educated people and on top of that wanting to further cut back. What a shame! So, I urge our gov't to please be smarter, don't fight with each other or others will laugh at us as a nation. Please learn from Aust, Singa,NZ or Japan. Please try to change the gov't from time to time if possible and it is no use to keep the same gov't for a long period of times. In the west we have 3 years period and then would go onto another vote for next possition. So, may be Hun Sen's can have a go, because is young and talented etc..... wisdom

I disagree with your assessment. First of, SRP is not a simple "right" wing label. Fact, it may not be at all to your surprise.
It has a very liberal agenda - democracy, human rights, progressive development and environmental protection. SRP party got quite a fusion, so as they are Khmer, many if not all of these supporters also support the royal institution (though however weak and prone to manipulation by power that has been), as well as the religion and tradition of Cambodia.
So you have people who are both progressive and conservative, right and left in the party but they got a goal of equity development and belief in unbias human rights that will never phase them out like CPP regime will be phased out.
When CPP fall, no other regime will follow suit, but when SRP steps down, many will follow in their ways.
Yellow shirt in Thailand are extremist without a cause and people who stir up trouble just for political gain with no real truth.
SRP party, the people are dedicated to the truth, they don't need SRP to show them that the country is being exerted great pressure from both east and west. They don't need Sam Rainsy to realize that illegals are flooding their towns and cities and taking away both capital and natural resources.
SRP is not an extremist as you say, you call this because you're probably an illegal Youn who is scare of the law.
When SRP come to power, don't worry, you too will be granted amnesty and mercy, though you may have to be legally documented and maybe a law would be created to deal with people like yourself as the Americans do with illegal in Arizona.
But rest assured, just as the SRP are concerned about human rights for the Khmer people, they will not neglect the illegal Vietnamese or other ethnic rights either. So stop trying to scare people about SRP, if they were a violent group of people many illegals and corrupt officials would bare the brunt by now as the SRP has a very popular sentiments across the country and outside.
Good luck SRP. You got a lot of our fine people up there :) Please add Lok Kim Sokha and whomever want to join you. You never know that they can be your best extension ever.

SR knows he can't return to Cambodia for a long time, so he has to come up with some way to raise money, so support himself and his family while living in France.
SR can't never become prime minister of Cambodia. He speak about helping the poor, but his action speak louder than words. His party is of the Cambodian elitist, mostly the old folks from the old Khmer republic. SR party can never get enough vote from ordinary people from the country side to have majority in the parliament. The way he does it, just watch, even he continue this kind of politic for another 50 years, he can't grow.
Why did SRP decide to use Son Chhay
to send a letter to support Teibet against China ? It is stupid and crazy.

My apology for a completly different subject, but for a historical record. Would any of the SRP member that are living in France, knows what university Mr. Hu Nim, Mr. Kao On and Mr. Ko Kim Sean were attending in Paris back in 50's, please?
How about Pol Pot, Ieng Sary, Ieng Thirit, Khiev Samphan, Deng Sao Ping, Zhou en Lai, Ho Chi Minh and many more. The dam France produce no one good for the world, most France educate either become stupid ass like Rannarith (Hold French PhD), and evil like Pol Pot!

Do you ever visit Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing and other cities in China? You will be surprised by its development big houses with no people living in. That what Pol Pot tried to copy, it destroy people and everything, stop using money....etc. It use temple Angkor watt as cattle shelter.

History sometimes repeats itself. Charles de Gaulle started a war from England and later won that war over the French dictator. Sam RaingSy can do the same if he is a real Khmer patriot.
SRP should not be hesistant to include HRP representative. For the sake of Khmer survival, all Khmers should be united regardless of their political affiliation.
Everyone say Hum Sen is a dictator who just wants to hang on to power at any cost. Well, I do not disagree, but what about Sam Rainsy? How long has he been the party leader? Isn't it time for him to go and let a new candidate with a different leadership style and vision take over and fight the CPP with different strategy? Sam Rainsy can not win because Hun Sen knows his strength and weakness so well. SRP needs a new leader that can surprise Hun Sen if they want to win.
