A letter from a Khmer student in Thailand to World Khmer Radio about Khmer school in Surin

Mr. Seng Rathanin, a Khmer student in Thailand who is teaching Khmer language to Khmer Surin and Khmer Buriram, has written a letter to World Khmer Radio about the wonderful success of his group in teaching Khmer language to indigenous Khmer children in Thailand.

Here a is translation of part of his letter to World Khmer Radio:

"From the broadcast by your radio, we come to know that Mr. San Suwit (one of the broadcasters) is visiting Thailand, so this is a good occasion for us to invite him to visit Buddhist temples, schools, universities in Surin and Buriram provinces where we have volunteered to teach to revive the Khmer language and we have achieved a wonderful result. We especially wanted to invite him (San Suwit) to visit the Patriarch Foundation in Svay village to help re-open the Khmer class rooms because all the class rooms in the village were closed since 6th November 2010 as demanded by Mr. Chey Mongkol and a number of Khmer expatriates from overseas through your radio which required Mr. Moeung Sonn to abandon his assistance by allowing Mr. Chey Mongkol to manage the class rooms by himself. But since we handed over the class rooms to him, there were not any single teacher coming to teach at the school which led to more than 30 monks, old and young people unable to continue their studies of the Khmer language.

We regret that a huge sum of Mr. Moeung Sonn's money and the great efforts of the Khmer university students have been wasted."

Please read the attached letter in Khmer for full details.

Cambodians are so stupid. They don't even know their history and origin. Go and learn more about Cambodian history, Indian is your original source of cultures, art and khmer alphatical...If you said our ancestors are useless how about your ancestors lost every lands to our ancestors. So Who is really a useless race? As today we take over your cambodia so what are you going to do???????

Chey Mongkol is about to reveal his true motif why he objected Meung Sonn help?

Reminder of Siam raiding Longvek"domesticated dove to lure wild dove to entrapment" ploy.

In the essence, Mongkol fears of losing his Siamese authority to preserve his false identity more than receptive to sympathetic Khmer assistance.

Ego and self promoting to get a position in Bangkok circle,as it appeared in Mongkol all along in using 'home trained dove to catch stray dove'...

When travel around india there is no single art and architecture are look like Khmer. no single Khmer alphabet is idendentical to Indian alphabet. Perhap Indian had influences from Khmer or copy from Khmer we never know, need more research. In the world book stated that the big religion building in the world are in Cambodia, why India does not have any big hindu monument?. We are practising Buddhism and Hinduism but it does not mean we are adopted Indian culture, Khmer dance compare to Indian dance are so different. There is no single Apsara at Hindu monument in India.

What we read from the internet appears to suggest that Chey Mongkol has single-handedly revived the Khmer language in Surin. From what we read here and some other sources suggested that Chey Mongkol has not done anything substantial in term of reviving the Khmer language. His work is a one-man show and that he run it like a personal business for his own livelihood. He rejected Moeung Sonn's help because it would mean he has to form an association. That means he has to work with others and would lose income and supports from overseas Khmers. On the other hand, many groups in Buriram and Surin, whom we never heard of had done a pretty damn good job in teaching Khmer language to Khmer Surin, yet no one of us know about their hard works.

Whatever for the variety group who try to preserve Khmer language in the former Khmer empire is good, they can have money, status, authority but they can not lost their identity, they should know where they come from. Chey Mongkol can have all the money, authority, status but at least he stir up and promote self awareness over the Siem brain wash by forgot their identity. Congratulation for those group who try preserve our language in our former Khmer empire eventhough have minority disagreement.

if mr. chey mongkol is smart, he should realize that he alone cannot do all the teaching to the indigenous khmer children in surin. he should be open-minded and invite more people who wanted to teach there. otherwise, he is not thinking smartly and cleverly. they all wanted to do something good like contributing to humanity like teaching khmer language of reading and writing, etc, but they should realize that they need other people's help, can't do it all by themself, you know! and it's smart and wise also to listen to other people's idea, input, criticking, etc, that's how things get improved, etc... be willing to be flexible, improvising, patience, etc...

8:07 pm I AGREE WITH YOU 100%

EACH GROUP SHOULD BE UNITED AND SHOW YOUR WORK AND RESULT TO PROVE THAT YOU DO THE JOB. WE ARE KHMERS.

IF YOU DO YOUR JOB RIGHT, YOU WILL BE SUPPORTED.

Brothers and sisters in Kampuchea Krom have struggled up to this day in teaching khmer and preserving khmer culture. Monks have also contributed and played a great role.

Monks in SURIN, Boriram, Sisaket and all other states are a special forcework to comtribute and play the role as monks in Kampuche Krom.

If Chey Mongkol showed his leadership, and management Khmer language well in old
Khmer empire,he will
get a lot of support
from Khmer oversea;
if he didn't,he will lose his support.

Before jumping to any conclusion, please just don't believe this single piece of paper. You should come and investigate the truth at Phum Svay, and you will see how Moeung Sonn has cause the damage to the project.

About money from Khmer overseas, is very few. I survive because of my income. Anybody who have question, please call me at 0875815514 or cheymongkol@gmail.com

Thanks,
