As of Monday, the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has started to register government officials who must declare their wealth between 01 January and 28 February 2011. Yesterday, Keo Remy, ACU spokesman, said: “We will start work on Monday to gather the names and the positions of government officials and we hope that the declaration of wealth, which was never conducted before, will take place.” Government officials are obligated to declare their wealth, including interest, professional wealth, personal wealth and vehicles, but they do not need to declare their money in the bank. The ACU estimates that about 100,000 government officials will be forced to declare their wealth before the date limit set on 28 Feb 2011.
