Isn't that Cambodia was under the King father after Khmer get her independence from France...and isn't the queen mother is his wife? She is playing a significant role in Khmer political arena (whether it good or bad!) what Mr. Chhang try to say is there is a Khmer woman that really stand by her man...throughout these whole political evolution in Cambodia.
And if you ever meet the King father with the queen mother by his side, she pay 100% attend toward him...if the king miss some fact, she would just said quitely to him without making any rippling the atmospher. I have to admite, if you ever in her present, you would wish to touch her hand...the feeling of bless in her present is an amazing experience!

This Monique woman is a devil who share a huge responsibility with Sihanouk to commit treason against Cambodia and her people.
She has been playing a major role to destroy Khmer culture and institution.
When she became a favorite concubine, she did what she can to oppose against Queen Kosomak and played her card well by creating an other Palace in Chomkar Morn for her and Sihanouk to reign and challenged with the Chaktomouk Palace where Queen Kosomak legitimately reigned.
In Sihanouk's bibliography which was written by Jeldres, claimed that Sihanouk and Monique were married, it's a false claim. Queen Kosomak was never approved of this woman.
We hardly hear Sihanouk mentioned about his own mother who worked so hard to preserve Khmer culture and tradition, including the reviving of the Khmer classical ballet, which also known as "Robam Preah Reajea Truop" (The royal funded dance) which she used her own funding to support top class trainers and costumes, Chan Chhaya hall, the venue where the rehearsal took place everyday. The unique classical dance have been highly praise by both national and international acclaim.
Sihanouk and Monique instead went wild with French influence, with making movies, plays... wasted of countless national resources.
What have this woman done to deserve this honor?
Youk Chhang once suggested to have Bun rany huge statue to be made.
Youk Chhang not just betray Cambodia and Khmer people but he deliberately betray the Khmer history by using his influence to kow tow these living devil women to aim for his personal gain.

In the 60's, yes she brought Paris to Cambodia. Wasn't everything else France?. It was nice and fresh changed to some who had money to go after those luxuries. To many people? He called out Viet troop soldiers to kill Khmer soldiers,Khmer educated people,Khmer farmers,Khmer citizens.They killed until 1973,then they left Cambodia;Khmer Rouge and Khmer Vietminh mixed up in Cambodia.Khmer Rouge were supported by China;and Khmer Vietminh were supported by Vietcong.These two big groups,they fought for power.Khmer Rouge won,but they did not trust among Khmer Rouge and Vietminh;they fought each other;then 1979 Heng Samrin,Chea Sim,Hun Sen,and others,along with Vietnam troops invaded in Cambodia,they just killed Khmer Rouge,but they killed Cambodian citizens along the way the Highways.
Now, you knew about Sihanouk,his wife,and Hun Sen, Heng Samrin,Chea Sim,and other officials in this Viet slaves.
Even Khmer farmers,please asked them what happened 1n 1970 up 1973, did see Vietcong men and women soldiers?
