Arrests Spark Protests, Border Closing in Thailand

In October 2009, Thai activists wave Thai flags and chant slogans during a rally against Prime Minister Hun Sen's decision to make ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra his economic adviser, and the recent protest may just worsen the already tense relations between the two Southeast Asian neighbors. "Cambodia has closed the border to Thai nationals as a result and to prevent Thai “revenge.”
Cambodian officials ruled out the demands of protesters in Bangkok Friday who want the release of seven Thai nationals charged Thursday with illegal entry.

The suspects, including a Thai member of parliament and supporters of the “yellow shirt” People's Alliance for Democracy, were arrested Wednesday while reportedly looking into claims of Cambodian encroachment on Thai soil.

Authorities say they were caught half a kilometer inside Cambodia and near a military area.

Members of the Thailand Patriot Network gathered in front of the Cambodian Embassy to call for the release of the group. Protesters burned a coffin bearing the photograph of Prime Minsiter Hun Sen and vowed to continue their rally until those arrested are returned to Thailand.

“We cannot accept what they have raised,” Koy Kuong, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told VOA Khmer Friday. He confirmed there had been protesters in front of the embassy, but said they dispersed before noon.

Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Pirumya has said his government will respect the judicial process here and has not so far called for a political release.

Meanwhile, Cambodian officials say Thailand has closed down an important checkpoint in Banteay Meanchey province, preventing Cambodians from crossing into Thailand there.

Many Cambodians typically use the crossing, in Obei Chon, in O'Chov district, where they travel for day labor on Thai farms and to purchase goods at Thai markets.

Cambodia has closed the border to Thai nationals as a result and to prevent Thai “revenge,” said Keo Sen governor of O'Chov district. “We must protect the safety of the people,” he told VOA Khmer.

Thai stupid you can burn your whole country to make the point but the fact is you can not escape the rule of law, unless you return to jungle of law during 1200 AD.

Early this month, 3 Thais entered Cambodia illegally, were detained and handed back to Thai authority after being pardoned by king Sy hak Mony.
Now 7 more being tried in Cambodia for illegal entry.
Hun Sen' s government sent troops to Thai/Khmer border " we' ll protect even 1mm of from being lost to Thai" but Yourn can put the border posts any where they want. If Khmer protest that we loss our land to Yourn, they will be arrested and thrown in jail by our own government. Their responses always the same lines " we loss some and gain some" even they know we loss a lot of land but too coward to admit because every body afraid that they will loss their rank.

Yourns can come to Cambodia any time. Some come to do the logging in Rat Ta nak kiri. When people complained to authority, they use the same lines " we did not know that but we' ll investigate" but when our Khmer people cut some trees to build their house, they got arrested right away.
When people caught those bustard VN loggers, the authority let them go right away.
VN army claiming to come to Cambodia to look for bones of their soldiers who died in 79's war, they returned with truck loads of Khmer lumber not Yourn' s bones. They know there is no more Yourn' s bones in Cambodia but they just want to use the phrases to remind Hun Sen that.
A lot of Khmer go to Siam to work, legally/illegally.
Khmer Surin allowed to study Khmer, speak Khmer, listen to Khmer language and celebrate Khmer culture.
Yourn dos not allow Khmer Krome to do all theses but demands that illegal Yourn in Cambodia be allowed to study Yourn and listen to Yourn TV an dradio

Even you burn your King Palace still nothing is going to help you . Criminals like those 7 Thai people belong to jail . Lock them up and give them what they deserved. Alot of Khmer people have been killed by crossing the border to Thailand , those 7 Thai people were lucky because we didn't kill them.
