Why hasn't there been public outrage over the arrest of seven Thais by Cambodian authorities?
The Thai public sentiment might have been muted by a videoclip that suggests Democrat MP Panich Vikitsreth intentionally crossed into Cambodian territory, and that he was on a secret mission purportedly assigned by PM Abhisit Vejjajiva.
It is Cambodia that scored points by tactfully handling the delicate situation. No criticism was levelled against the Thai prime minister, and no attempt was made to link the issue with the disputed area at Preah Vihear temple.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen did not try to exploit the situation to attack his Thai counterpart, who initially demanded that Cambodia immediately free the seven Thais.
The incident has shown the Abhisit government in a bad light, as Hun Sen played his cards close to his chest. He has insisted all along that the fate of the seven Thais will be decided by the court of justice, and that he must respect the judiciary.
All things considered, I think PM Abhisit should show his political spirit by flying to Phnom Penh, where he may negotiate with the concerned authorities. And before he leaves Bangkok, Mr Abhisit should declare that he will resign if he cannot bring the seven Thais back to Bangkok with him.

i know, when people start blindly attack on personal basis, they are not thinking clearly for sure. criticism or verbal attack shouldn't be on personal character, etc, instead, to be useful, it should on the gov't's handling of controversial issues like lands, territories, unfair land grabbing, corruption, cheating on taxes, etc, etc, not most definitely not on personal character like short, tall, handicapped, losing one eye, or losing a leg, an arm, bald head, fat, skinny, etc... these are personal characters and shouldn't be attacked on, ok! crticism should be constructive like reforms, revamping of the system, lecturing, re-education, etc... the purpose of critics is to reform or make things better, if not, what is the use doing so beside slandering and libeling a person to ruin their good reputation, etc, you know! think about it! that's all!

Look at Beng Kok contracted for 99 years, KOs Pich, Kos Poss, Phnom Borko, Ankor Wat, Tole Sap and all of those so call lands concession. Every thing is for 99 years. if cambodian people smart they should implement good immigration law. this way youn and some other illegals can't steal from cambodia! yes, make and enforce the law for everybody! no exception! and make law that require everybody to pay taxes to cambodia, and make it transparent and accountable, etc! don't say it can't be done, yes, it can be done; put the right, educated people for the jobs, etc! cambodia must reform, sooner or later, period! that's called smart, clever, wise, enlightened, reformed, educated, etc, etc..., ok! wake up, people! make the law strict and must enforce it all the way with firm hands and stiff penalty, etc, for the violators of khmer law, ok! no more excuses. relearn to work together, instead of working individually! be a part of the team, ok! develop good teamwork in cambodia, ok! yes, everyone of us can all help to make a real, lasting difference for our beloved country and people, ok! god bless cambodia.
