The head of Cambodia's anti-drug trafficking agency has been charged with drug-related corruption.
The chief of the anti-corruption unit said Monday that police Lt. Gen. Moek Dara, secretary-general of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, has been formally charged in Banteay Meanchey provincial court.
The charges Sunday came about a week after Moek Dara was first detained. On Friday, the Banteay Meanchey provincial police chief and his deputy were charged by the same court with corruption. Both were arrested on suspicion of taking bribes to release drug trafficking suspects.
Under Cambodia's anti-corruption law, passed last year, any official found guilty of taking bribes faces up to 15 years in prison.

always glad to see the new anti-corruption law is working slowly but surely in cambodia. everybody, please help to report all corruption to the appropriate law enforcement agency, etc... that's all we all can help to make a real difference by discourage corruption and educating others how corruption is detrimental to tourism, to gov't, to country, etc... working together by being a responsible and good citizens of cambodia will help to make a real, lasting difference to come in cambodia. god bless cambodia.

I hope that not just Gov. official who get punished but also the people who gave the money to corrupted officials.
Otherwise, it will not stop the people from bribing the Gov. officials. The punishement have to be harsh both ways. It is the only way to discourage people from doing it.

So far Cambodia is full of anarchist led by Hun Sen under the instruction of vietnam to cape Cambodia poor and weak by having policy of hatres between Cambodian themselves, such as sold out the country for foreigners, slavery salary, corruption, insecurity, mafia style leadership etc...
Cambodian need a system to lead into prosperity for their own people by having good income, real job, public security, full democracy system, human right and fredom of free speeches.
The real development will benefit to their own people.
Example, If any development in Boeung Kak, residents of Boeung Kak must benefit first by having nice house, nice streets and nice living condition. But it is fully opposite for having them evicted and live in poverty. THAT IS NOT DEVELOPMENT. That is a sign of sold out of people lives which is a crime.

I haven't heard any punishment on corrupted judge yet? As you all may know, the Pusat Province, the judge there taken bribe and involving in corruptions schems, his wife and his close relatives are also involved..? I think if these people still get off the hook, the country will never get any better or progress....? Unless, the judges, whoever corrupted, must be punish!!

if we consider the statistice or or national census, we have about 5,7 millions population in 1980. for every 20 years it doulbe the number, now 32 years it about 14 million it just right fiquer. yes there are some veitnamese lived in Cambodia but, if like you said 5 million it must 1 of them live next to every Cambodian house, please give sense of fairness.
