Cambodia's Khmer Rouge trial gets go-ahead

The Associated Press

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia -- Cambodia's U.N.-backed genocide tribunal has refused to drop indictments against four former senior members of the Khmer Rouge, rejecting their appeals.

The tribunal says Nuon Chea, the Khmer Rouge's chief ideologist; Khieu Samphan, its head of state; Ieng Sary, its foreign minister; and his wife Ieng Thirith, who was minister for social affairs, were ordered Thursday to be sent for trial. Court officials have suggested the trial would start midyear.

Charges against the four include crimes against humanity, genocide, war crimes and murder, torture and religious persecution. An estimated 1.7 million people died under the Khmer Rouge's rule in the late 1970s.

The regime's chief jailer was convicted last year of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

January 2011 Arizona USA

President Obama urges Americans to use words that heal, not wound

In Tucson to eulogize the victims of last weekend's tragic shooting, President Obama somberly called for an end to the political blame game that erupted in the wake of the tragedy and urged Americans not to use it as "one more occasion to turn on each other."

How is about Cambodia ?

Can KING or any Cambodian urge Cambodians to use words that heal, not wound ?

Contrarily, CPP has celebrated January 7.

Prince N Ranarigh already sent a letter to join HUN SEN.

Think about that if you are really Khmer.

some people's logic on this thread makes so sense when they kept trying to drag hun sen, heng samrin, chea sim, hour nam hong, etc into this so-called KR saga! people forgot about reconciliated for these statesmen as they did a lot for cambodia god see to it that these individual redeemed and reform themselves to the point that cambodia is developed, advanced beyond recognition than a few years ago. these are good people who god forgive and teach them to love cambodia and our khmer people freedom, etc... if some people failed to see that, than they must be way behind time and still living in the dark ages and still reminiscent about bygone era as if they can bring it back. these individual who are whining and bitching about cambodia must be still living in the dark era and their mentality is still the frogs in the well confined in their own little pound, not knowing that the world is big out there and there are more to cambodia than their groading the sound of the frog! wake up, people, don't be too outdated and old-fashioned in the computer age and technological age, ok! time waits for no one, you know!
