Thai Rath Columnist Mae look chan [on the border trespassing Thais]

5/01/2011
Bangkok Post

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen might have had ulterior motives for being so tough against the seven Thais who were arrested by Cambodian authorities for allegedly trespassing into Cambodia. The arrested include Democrat MP Panich Vikitsreth, a former vice minister for foreign affairs who is now a member of the House committee on boundary affairs, and well-known political activist Veera Somkwamkid.

The seven Thais were arrested last Wednesday near the border in Sa Kaeo, which is opposite the Cambodian town of Banteay Meanchay. They were taken to Phnom Penh and detained in a central prison there pending trial. If found guilty of illegal entry, the seven Thais may face up to 18 months in jail.

The accused have only themselves to blame for not having contacted the Thai army or the Border Patrol Police, who could have provided a team of soldiers or BPP personnel to accompany them into the disputed area. Both Thailand and Cambodia claim sovereignty over this portion of the border.

Nonetheless, I think the Cambodian soldiers were wrong in taking Mr Panich and his companions into custody. They may have been instructed to do so by a higher authority.

I suspect Hun Sen is using this incident to bargain for something from Thailand in return for freedom for the seven men. The Cambodian leader is well aware that his Thai counterpart, Abhisit Vejjajiva, will do anything to secure the release of Mr Panich. He cannot let his fellow party MP languish in jail. I hope PM Abhisit will not let Hun Sen take advantage of Thailand over this pol itically sensitive issue.

THis columnist misunderstood the whole scheme set up by Abhisit's ulterior motives.

It's Thailand that wanted to take advantage of Cambodia,in all aspects. Politically,Hun Sen will remain a leader of his party and current government whether the 7 were arrested or being killed.Nothing Thailand could do to stop him,if it was for his ill intent in doing so.Lastly, the 7 unlucky agitators were commanded by no other but Abhisit himself were 1200 meters deep in Khmer's undisputed border. The area was demarcated in between 1904-1907 by Joint Siam-French commission which was approved the Siam King then.In spite of Thailand old claim, the whole Sra Keo province was belonged to Khmer sovereignty before war in 1893 between French and Siamese. The false claim as the area belonged to Siam because in 1941 with Japan approval dictator Phlaek invaded and renamed the area as Siam new provinces.

So this Siamese columinst needs to re-read his confused identity history first before throwing stone at Cambodia. There are thousands of Khmer habitants still live and speak the Khmer in Sra Keo to date.

this person is damn stupid having said that. imagine a cambodian mp doing the same stupid thing, how would the thais react? I guess he would be shot right away in the first few steps in their land, not letting him come in that far.

even b4 seeing the video, i was thinking this guy must be very stupid and if i were Hun Sen, this guy would not be sent to jail, but somewhere near hell.

even the two soldiers were being disgusted with the bevavior.

Mr Panich MP Thai lawmaker made the laws, knew the laws, but not obeing
his own and foreign laws;it means nothing.
He didn't know the laws warning to enter neighbor land.
How idiot he is!
then he also was a former vice minister foreign affairs, house committee boundary affairs.
Mr Panich, you are not Vietnam citizens. If you are a Viet citizens, you could walk in freely without custody. And you also are Viet slave as Cambodia.

What if Thai government decides to withdraw herself from the UNESCO membership, as opposed to the conflict over the PVH and the border disputes. I think there's a good chance that they might take that road if things get complicated and urged by the people.

AH Veera Somkwamkid is a repeat offender for crossing Cambodian territories illegally and he was caught and let go several times already with harm and demand! But no AH Veera Somkwamkid want to be so tough with the Cambodian government and now he has nobody to blame except himself! He knew what he is getting into for breaking Cambodian law and he should stop complaining like a bitch!

Hun Sen has more Crimes than any other in Cambodia' history.
His Crime as follows :

1)- Brought Yuon to Invade Cambodia.

2)- Created K-5 plan.(Aprox. 600,000 Killed)

3)- Bombast in front of the old ASS.

4)- Coup D'etat 1997 (Aprox. 13,000 Killed)

5)- Koh Pich Murder (Aprox 400 Killed)
6)- Cut land to Yuon Enemy

All these crimes are enough evidences for International Prosecution.

I ask all khmer to file International lawsuit against Hun Sen for his "Axis of Evil" on Khmer People. And make The CASE "OO4" for KRT. backed by United Nation.
