The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia held a meeting to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays on Jan. 28 in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
Attending the meeting were Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, heads of ministries and state agencies and overseas Vietnamese.
Speaking at the meeting, the Cambodian Deputy PM congratulated Vietnam on its successful 11th National Congress Party. She hailed the economic achievements the country had recorded during the last year as well as its investment activities in Cambodia, which, she said, have helped generate jobs for local residents.
On the occasion, she also sent her New Year greetings to Vietnam leaders and people and expressed her wish for the two countries’ traditional friendship to be strengthened.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ngo Anh Dung briefed the attendants on Vietnam ’s socio-economic achievements as well as the fine outcomes of Vietnam-Cambodia friendship in the past year. He spoke highly of overseas Vietnamese’s endeavour to integrate into the Cambodian society and wished them a happy and prosperous new year.
Attendants had chance to enjoy various Vietnamese traditional foods and diversified music performances.

If ah Youn told ah Huynh Xen (Hun Sen) to raise the Vietnamese communist flag on top of Angkor Wat, ah Huynh Xen would immediately do so without hesitation.

It is important to get the commentary straight so you don't get vulnerable to attack on credibility.
Khmer Krom in Kampuchea Krom are allowed to celebrate Pchum Ben, New Years, and all other activities. Of course, we don't get the same national holiday status as they do with their Tet, but no one is stopping us from celebrating Pchum Ben.
Maybe it is under an atmosphere of security and watchful eyes, nevertheless KK get to celebrate everything.
The only difference between us Khmer Krom and Vietnamese Oversea in Cambodia is that the Vietnamese oversea receives full support of their brethren and nation to conduct any cultural activities, build schools, help alleviate hunger and develop their children, while the Khmer of Cambodia could care less if Khmer Krom go hungry, does not have a Khmer language school, or is eliminated from history through slow cultural assimilation policies by Vietnam (refer to Rebecca Sommer's eliminated without bleeding).
I think it is time for Khmer readers to get the truth, so they wake up and rise beyond their victim mentality and accept the challenge of unity and supporting their own success, and community rather than simply watching and criticizing others for ignoring us. "No one loves Khmer, more than Khmer" - So Mr. Hun Sen's words goes, but I ask you fellow Khmer from Cambodia (Cambodians), what have your love for your fellow Khmer in Kampuchea Krom pushed you to do?
Have you held a Kathin ceremony to any Khmer Krom wats? Donate to any Khmer Krom organizations, supported any Khmer Krom refugees? Open up any public association in Vietnam to help Khmer Krom poverty?
