I'm telling you Angkor Borey is getting out of hand. They can relate anything happen in Cambodia to Vietnamese. They were members of the Lon Nol government. How did your government work back then? Lon Nol government was the most corrupted and incompetent government. Lon Nol was blindly superstitious, and without him, probably there was no Khmer Rouge regime. If these people were so good, they wouldn't burn the whole country down with their stupidity.

i feel sorry to 10:35 PM.You guy blink or you are not born at that time or you are pro Sihanouk or KR.
Khmer Republic is the regime who protect Cambodia and souvereinity. If Lon Nol zip sihanouk mouth, the situation would be different from today.Khmer politician not smart than viet.Remember when Viet army drove to PP,they want to rescue Sihanouk first. It is the big mistake to let Sihanouk go free.we should keep him in the golden case like China & Hun sen did to him.
I support 100% the view of Angkor borei but unfortunatly the recent Khmer leader is not yet free from vietnam.Thai don't want to see Viet stay on their border line. It's long history that Viet is away be an agresser and never have enough ambitious and Thai knew what's the next move of VN.Cambodia is a sandwiches again & again for generation.Cambodia needs to get rid of Vietnam and build up their economic and politic asap.Thai policies toward cambodia are some time soft and Hard together. You look at the red and yellow shirt and a Thai's group who walk in to Cambodia territory are not a joke same like in the history Khmer king go to catch fake white elephant. How stupid are khmer people,7 Makara was 31 years ago and they are still confused.Don't take any more longer,it's the right time & the right place for Hun Sen to step aside for the best of Cambodian.Enough is enough.

Dear Lok Anonymous 10:35PM,
In 1970, we have a big war with the Vietnamese which Sdach Sihanouk allowed them to station along the eastern border. We needed to push all the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese back to Vietnam. Cambodia, at that time, had to fight 2 fronts: one hand with the Vietcong and North Vietnamese Forces that was supported by the Chinese and Soviet Unions, and the other hand with the Khmer Rouge lead by Sdach Sihanouk. At that time we did not have a fully equipped army but we had to fight to protect our nation. We lost the war to the Vietnamese not to the Khmer Rouge. I agree with you that we cannot control corruption in the war against a very big and powerful vietnamese army. But by comparing the corruption at that time with Hun Sen’s regime during the peace time, I think our problem was minimal. You can not blame the war and the genocide on Lon Nol. I think Sdach Sihanouk is the one to blame. Sdach Sihanouk brought the war into Cambodia. He asked the Vietcong and North Vietnamese to invade his own country. He lead the Khmer Rouge to kill 3 million of his own people.

Best Regards,
Ly Diep

10:35PM,

It's time to acknowledge the facts and real history that shape the consequences for Cambodia and its people up until present time.
Please stop confusing and manipulating our young generation by pushing the blame to the Khmer Republic regime. By doing this, you betray the spirit of Freedom and Democracy, and dismiss the truth with what had happened during that year. Although it was not perfect, I believe the Khmer Republic regime had taught all Khmer citizen with their dignity on the value of patriotism and the freedom of expression, which Khmer people had not had experienced before. Say what you like, but you can't erase the history that wrote and remembered by many who were there to witness.

There was no freedom of expression in the Khmer Republic.

Lon Nol and his government killed so many students at the Law faculty in Phnom Penh.

Even Soth Poline ran away from the country for his newspaper's editorial.

Don't tell me the Khmer Republic regime respected democracy and freedom of expression. I was here in Phnom Penh during the 1970-1975. They also suppressed freedom.

Lon Nol also cheated on the election in 1972 when it should have been Mr. In Tam who was truly elected by the people of Cambodia.

Lon Nol is a useless leader!

Know what someone knew, the ones someone
did not know,someone
should learn to know.
In 1960 Sihanouk let
Vietcong use Khmer territory along border from North Vietnam communist to
South Vietnam( under American protection).
Vietcong carried weapons and food inside Khmer land
to fight South Viet
nam.And also provided food,smoked
fish,salt etc...to
Vietcong.
Lon Nol,Sirikmatak..
and assembly members
were unhappy with
Sihanouk,they made
a Coup d'Etat and
brought him down.
Sihanouk was in Paris at that time;
he went to Soviet,to
China and organized
a govt outside of
Cambodia against Lon
Nol govt.
Sihanouk talked on
China Radio to rise
up against Lon Nol
regime.
In 1970 Sihanouk asked Vietcong for
help to take back
power from Lon Nol.
the civil war broke
out among Lon Nol and Vietcong, not a
single Khmer Rouge.
Khmer Rouge had few
thousand Khmer Rouge
soldiers only.
Was Sihanouk fault
or Lon Nol fault?
Through out Khmer
history,kings or Khmer leaders always
depended on Thai or
Vietnam to take power as kings or
prime ministers.
The YOUNG GENERATION ME should
change Khmer leaders
Khmer behaviors.
I am 78 years old man; I spoke no English, read and wrote English;I came
abroad for 30 years.
Thank some blogger
here who have good
ideas.
May Gods Bless YOUNG GENERATION ME
Bravo! Khmer young
generation!
Wake up! stand up!
Rise up! against Hun Sen,CPP,and Vietnam in Cambodia
I am not one of any
members of parties
outside of Cambodia.

Why do Kos Trol, sea and lands proximately over 10 000 km2 have been lost to Vietnam by who treaty? Why don’t Cambodia goverment transparencies explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?

Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 and what's about over 10 000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?

Kos Trol, Sea and lands over 10 000km2 have been lost to Vietnam by who treaty at 1979 to 1985 treaty! Treaty! Cambodian army at front line as well as all Cambodian people must rethink again about these issues. Are Cambodian army fighting to protect the Cambodia Nation or protect a very small group that own big lands, big properties or only protecting a small group rather in the real name of protecting Khmer nation?

Cambodian army at front line suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition, their families have no health care help, no securities after they die but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning with young girls message, have super health care from oversea medical treatment, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make Cambodian people suffer everyday as Cambodian people know already.

Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that result lost over 10 000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why don't they transparency inform all Cambodian and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't include Kos Trol (Kos Trol size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapoor with heap of great natural resources) in education system in Cambodia.

Look at Hun Sen families, relatives; friends are billionaires, millionaires where do they get the money from if we all just get out of war with empty hands? Hun Sen always say in his speech Cambodia just get up from war, just get up from Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% innocent Cambodian people are so poor struggling with living every day.

Smart Khmer girl Ms. Rattana Keo,

Lok Ly Diep has some good points there in Angkor Borei's article, and so does people in this forum. Please stop the blamed games as we can't change the path of our tragic history. We should acknowledge and learn from past mistakes in order to shape for a better future of Cambodia. I may be an idealist, but we all should be united regardless of our affiliations (i.e. Republican, Monarchist, or SRP etc) and work together to get rid of bad elements in P Penh that have pushed Cambodia to the brink of total annihilation. Thank you for paying attention.
