It certainly brought me back to the Khmer Republic period. My heart goes out to those true soldiers who fought against the North Vietnamese, Vietcongs and later the KR forces of Sihanouk and Pol Pot.
It is too bad that in this civil war the Vietnamese are the ones who have won tremondously because of our stupid internal division which is still going on at a full force nowadays.
It is very unfortunate that the Khmer Republic was led by the incompetent general Lon Nol and Prince Sisowat Sirimatak and their corrupted team.
They started out right with a lot of things to hope for and lots of support from the general public and western world, but was consumed in corruption more severely than Sihanouk was.
Lon Nol was certainly an idiot who directed the military operations of Chenla One and Chenla Two from his own fabulous house in Phnom Penh. Many poor Khmer Republic soldiers were brought down mercilessly by the Vietcongs and the North Vietnamese regular forces because of this stupidity.
Lon Nol thought he knew everything and wanted a fame, but he got a shame instead!
My salute to all Khmer Republic soldiers who had fallen during that time for a fight against the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese forces even though some of them had not been paid for months while Lon Nol enjoyed his new and young wife with lots of food, entertainment and happiness in Phnom Penh.
