At least 18 people were killed and seven others were seriously injured in a car crash in Sihanouk province on Friday at 1:20 p.m local time, said Horn Siha, chief of military police for Sihanouk province, told Xinhua by phone.
"The accident caused by the crash between a lorry towed container and a tourist van loaded with passengers," he said.
The drivers of both vehicles were killed instantly in the accident and the tourist van was completely destroyed. "It's almost flattened."
It's still unknown who's right and wrong as both vehicles were in high speed.
The accident happened on the national road No. 4 in Village one, in Sihanouk city of Sihanouk province, he said. The vehicles drove in opposite direction, he added.

This what Hun Sen's government is. This car was overloaded. If good governing, no one can violate the traffic law. If People are rich, they don't need to use their car overloaded. In Khmer version, Kohsantepheap Newspaper said that there are 18 died and nearly ten seriously wounded. The van can load only 12 seats, but over twenty were in the collided car.
That's shocking but not surprising. Road accident at this scale are just time bombs in Cambodia, with the current road system and lack of enforcement in place. The government cannot just leave it to chance anymore, because the chance of having major accident is too high. All they did ( helmet and seatbelt policy) is not enough, as it only reduce the impact but not the risk of getting and accident.
For a little ass country like Cambodian having an accident more that United States why? Every day I heard people died of accident I'm feel so pitty for those people that dead.

The country need a stricter commercial truck law. Most of the times, the construction and commercial trucks are overload and speeding. Also, they need a harser punishment to deter this won't happend in the future.
Fucking no traffic law or fine on bad driving. I see it every fucking day... I told them one of this day it will come and wil cost live. It will take alot more people to dead before the laws enforce. Most Police dont do shit in Khmer. To many corruption and government dont know how to bring in money for the force.

Safety signs should never be ignored, but when they are, serious car accidents are often the result. Each year, thousands of accidents occur when driver ran a stop sign. Many incidents and injuries in accident result from drivers that run stop signs. You should always look both ways when proceeding through a stop sign.

Such an unfortunate accident, my thoughts goes to the family of the 13 people who died. I hope accidents like these can be prevented in the future.
