KI-Media Note: Recently, former SRP Mao Monyvann decided to switch to Kem Sokha's Human Rights Party after he was kicked by the SRP following his resignation from his position as MP. Mao Monyvann subsequently likened the SRP leaders to the Khmer Rouge and the HRP took the opportunity to organize a hoopla reception for the newly defected SRP MP and his followers. The following article by Lok Timothy Chhim analyzes this issue as well as the future of the merger between the SRP and the HRP.
Mao Monyvan’s allegation that SRP’s leaders are like the Khmer Rouge is too extreme. Regardless, whether you like Sam Rainsy and SRP or not, the are not Khmer Rouge nor like the Khmer Rouge.
Politicians ought to tone down their rhetorical statements and be informative or enlightening instead of being enrage with verbal abuses.
HRP’s leaders and the so-called special event’s creators should also have better moral values in conducting such an event which could be harmful to future relations between the non-CPP political parties, if they are serious about gaining additional seats in the National Assembly.
However, from the very beginning HRP has been speculated that it was created to split Sam Rainsy’s Party and some reliable sources pointed that its President was given financial supports and a green light by Premier Hun Sen to help created the Party. Such allegations have never been proven but they have never been clarified. Actions by HRP speak the truth.
With regards to which parties is more democratic the people ought to know by now that the answer is none. Such a self-serving maneuver or accusations are used to demonize the previous party to cover up the real internal or personal problems one does have. The structures of the party may say that it is “true” democratic, but the application is not---the money, the fame, the “not what you know, but who you know” are the key factors.
Cambodian voters are much smarter now and so are political supporters. Politicians may dupe them twice, but the third time it won’t happen. What they are looking for is not [the hearing of] empty promises, but something that they can see, smell and touch. Right now what they see are the politicians jumping ship, what they smell is nepotism and dishonesty, what they can touch is not here—the money.
It is unfortunate that the only party with plenty of money now is not one of the oppositions.

We greeted him, we fed him, We donated through him. I assumed that his plane tickets, food, and traveling cost is paid by SRP. Unlike CPP that that travel on national budget-Moan Poang leu sreou-, SRP lives on Donation from supporters some of whom are very poor.
Shame on Mao monyvan that takes a luxuary life on the sweat of the ordinary SRP's supporters- Shame on you. Next time do not come to Stockton,CA.
Mr. Mao Monyvann is a naive politician, the way he acted show that he couldn't become an elite politician, the press conference he did look like a fish dealer in a market. Poor him!

In Khmer Rouge regime; people did accidently damaged thing got, killed or thrown into hard labor camp. Not to mention defection to join another group on the opposite, 100% surely that person would have been killed on the spot.
Any CPP senator or rep who dares to defect to any opposition party, will 100% surely ending up in a long time S-21 plus along with their incomes and properties they earned.
Mao Monivan is a rotten big mouth and spoke from his point of angry and frustration.
It is good thing that SRP and HRP are not merged together. Now SRP can see the true color of HRP intention. If I were Khem Sokha, I would have rather directed Mr. Monivan to join CPP or stay home. since I really wanted to build good relationship with SRP.

THE END OF THE KHMER ERA
The Vietnamese agendas are to kill all the CAMBODIAN (KHMER) population in Indochina from KHMER KROM in Vietnam to KHMER SURIN in Thailand and take all the KHMER territories. The Preah Vihear temple conflicts will never be ending, because the Vietnamese will be pressing Hun Sen harder to get more land from Thai. But Thai will never give anything to any country and no country ever control Thailand since Independence in 1200's until now. The Cambodian troops trained and armed by the Vietnamese will have a short life and short term on the border because of starvation, diseases, low salary, problems at home, antique weapons, and etc.
This war was wasting Khmer life and money. The war to reclaimed 4.6 sq. km. surrounding area of Preah Vihear temple was the Vietnamese planned, to boost Hun Sen popularity, brought Khmer people to focusing on the Cambodia-Thailand border and to forget the Vietnamese border encroachments, border markers installed by the Vietnamese and border demarcation Agreements between Hun Sen and the Vietnamese was faked are not official without the United Nations and ASEAN inspections and verifications according to the French Bonne Map of 1954.
The Vietnamese never let Khmer people live in peace, indedpendence, sovereignty, autonomy and self-government liked KAMPUCHEA KROM. The Khmer people that joined and supported Hun Sen's Vietnamese slave will see a final resolve very soon is NO CAMBODIA IN THE WORLD MAP liked KAMPUCHEA KROM after the Vietnamese completely take control and Hun Sen will be kill by the Vietnamese. Hun Sen's life is in the Vietnamese hands, so Hun Sen will never be afar from the Vietnamese government controlling and making decisions for the CPP.

Your analysis of the Viet mentality is correct and shared by all khmer patriot who love and respect Sam Rainsy. If we do not wake up and rise up together against the Imperialist Vietnam and it’s crony, Hun Sen and company, our khmer Nation sooner or later will become American Indian in the USA living in various indian conservations only.
It is not too late for us to joint hand together. Kem Sokha, if you are a real khmer patriot and not a CPP agent, you should not get bog down in the dispute between HRP and SRP. Anything you said against Sam Rainsy will be in the interest of the CPP and Vietnam. the problem is simple, if sam rainsy stop running away and hide overseas all the time when he got into trouble with cambodia's law, then perhaps khmer people will think about voting for a him as a loyal candidate, otherwise, it is questionable of him, really!

I used think of Kem Sokha as someone who would be there to help bring the democracy for Cambodia, but i was wrong because now Kem Sokha has become a CPP's dog. I am glad KI put Mr. Chhim's article here. Who is Mr. Chhim? I am not a member of any party but I know him very well and he told me all of his involvements in politics.
1- He is a former HRP, former president of HRP in USA, former MP candidate in Prey Veng Province in 2008.
2- He was very mad because he lost about $50,000 in the campaign in his province and got nothing as he expected. He said to me "I had never lost any penny to anyone but to this campaign."
3- He hates HRP to the bone because HRP members in USA kicked him out from HRP position in USA because he lacks of leadership. And Kem Sokha supported the kicking out.
4- He hates Kem Sokha personally because he blamed Kem Sokha for his lost in campaign. He has be trying every way to put down Kem Sokha to the lower level as far as he can.
5- Recently he became a secrete member of CPP in USA. As soon as he became the member, he took off all of his campaign pictures in 2008, wearing yellow shirt of HRP, from his blog and facebook.
Visit his blog, read all his articles and you will see what side he is on now. Also visit his facebook. One of his friends in it is Hun Sen's facebook. He has no link with SRP's facebook or HRP's facebook.

HRP is a respectable party and SRP should respect all the opposition parties. SRP should work very hard to cure the internal issues that they are facing right now. The leader of the SRP is weak and in exile. Instead of continue to blame others for your own slowly destruction, SRP should start looking in the mirror and try to find some solutions. I like SRP, I met Rainsey 2 times, but I also recognize that SRP has become out dated and out of touch with reality, instead SRP and some of their members started to use foul words in a debate, start to blame others, start to accuse others and that is immature. It is not and never too late to turn your ship around or else it will hit the ice burg.
This is the Khmer attitude and mentality that help to create apportunity for Yuon to swallow the country.
This story starts to unfold when the election comes close. If khmer politicians keep practicing this game, Yuon will completely swallow Cambodia by next term.
